As development encroaches on coastal habitats, some gulls increasingly use rooftops and other urban structures as alternative breeding sites. Ten species of UK breeding seabirds, including the Herring Gull and Great Black-backed Gull, are now on the Red List due to alarming population declines.

It's Tuesday, and you're wondering: "Why should I care about eels?" Well...in addition to being great fodder for memes, eels are super-important to stream ecologies! Historically, eels have made up as much as 50% of the total fish biomass in lower reaches of US & European rivers. 🗃️🧪
Meme. Picture of an eel underwater. The picture is taken from the side, so you can only see one of the eel's blue-tinged eyes, fixed on you like the red-rimmed Eye of Sauron (if Sauron were a happy fish). The eel (we'll call him Kryztaphix) seems like he is peeking out from a hole in the rocks. There are stones in the water behind him, one of which seems like a lovely speckled granite. Kryztaphix is a dark grey on top, and a shiny silver below. He is likely stopping to say hi on his way to sea.

Kryztaphix has a kindly smile on his face, and you feel comfortable in his presence. It's the sort of look that makes you want to spill out your whole life story, including that one time in middle school. You know the one. Kryztaphix won't judge you. He seen worse. Hell...he's done worse. And he will take your secrets to his Sargasso grave. You really couldn't ask for more.

Meme text reads:
"Half your streams
are belong to us."

An abstract photo of a detail of an old tin door with multiple layers of paint that are cracked, peeling & starting to bubble and rust.
Most of the colours are muted but a section in the centre is a pale lemon, with green & mauve thicker sections above.
To me they give the impression of a stormy seascape with the headland and a wide stretch of deserted beach.

Tomorrow, MSPs discuss the petition to ban the Guga hunt. Let's make sure they know this needless violence to Gannet chicks has no place in Scotland. A licence refusal is not enough - that's why we're asking them to change the law and ensure the Guga hunt can never return again.

A roughcast stone cottage with slated roof. Four men in the garden greeting a young woman in the front doorway. Two women conservatively dressed women observe what's going on.Long roof slates installed atop the brick chimneys, serving to extend the effective height of the chimneys, and in lieu of chimney potsThree men wearing gillets... and strange thatched cones in their heads, covering their faces.

A suggested statement for Andy Burnham.
‘The British public decided in the 1930s that they would not tolerate black-shirted militias marching through their streets. They would cherish robust political argument; they would not accept thuggery and intimidation. When Oswald Mosley led his Blackshirts to Cable Street, local people turned them back. A new law – introduced by a Liberal, backed by Labour and carried by a Conservative majority – banned private militias, political uniforms and ‘the use or display of physical force in promoting any political object’. The British people are as determined today as in the 1930s that they will not accept the methods of Mussolini and the Munich Beer Hall. This government will uphold the law and defend the traditions of British democracy’.

THE most beautiful thing. If you zoom in you might think this is what inspired stained glass. A quick photo has turned out to be breathtaking.
A dragonfly of some sort has alighted on the rim of a pot. It is in bright sunlight and on zooming in you can see lots of exquisite colours blocking out the cells of its wings. It's like a stained glass window. I'm astonished.
