DAERA’s public consultation on culling badgers is open til 9 October. It presents three badger intervention strategies to address bovine TB: mass culling, a selective Test and Vaccinate or Remove (TVR) approach, and a vaccination-only policy.

DeepGreen wants an underwater AI data centre off Maine, in habitat for the endangered North Atlantic right whale (fewer than 400 left). But it's not just 'over there'. Microsoft trialled them off Scotland in 2018 through Project Natick. How long until it hits UK shores?

Reform UK MSP Jamie Langan has twice pressed the Scottish Government to safeguard the Guga hunt as a cultural tradition - defending a practice that involves young Gannet chicks being ripped from their nests and bludgeoned to death.

Campaigners in the US are successfully slowing the rolling out of Data Centres in the US. These destructive projects would have decimated habitats for wildlife if they had gone unopposed. The success of grassroots movements in the US shows that we can do it here too.

The removal of Hallyard's Castle from ILI's Cato data centre site in Auchertool, Fife, was just confirmed. This is exactly the type of overgrown ruin that roosting bats and nesting birds love. Yet no ecological survey of the ruins has been published in Cato's planning documents.

From today, cosplaying hobbyists are pulling on their tweed, loading their guns, and standing in lines while beaters drive pheasants into the sky towards them. By the time the ‘season’ closes on 1 February, tens of millions of pheasants will have been killed.

A new Wildlife Trusts report exposes the devastating impact of unchecked mega-dairies on UK wildlife. There are more than 40 mega-dairies in the UK, but lack of government oversight leaves their growth and pollution unmonitored. “Zero-grazing" mega-dairies keep cows inside all year round.

SDC M40 in Gerrards Cross is one of the most harmful sites yet proposed. It puts a gas power station next to ancient and wet woodland, home to great crested newts, bats, grass snakes, skylarks and more. But it bypassed the local council and went through by the government as a Section 35 direction.

In 2021, developers of land at Pinewood Studios agreed nearly £190,000 to protect Black Park. It funded mitigation for rare Bechstein's bats and breeding birds. In 2026, a data centre on that same land secured £15,000, not even ringfenced for wildlife. Why did Buckinghamshire Council accept a cut?

Ordinary members of the public have been prohibited from using glue traps to catch rodents. Yet it remains legal in England for anyone to buy one from a shop or online. That makes no sense. If members of the public cannot legally use glue traps, they should not be able to buy them.
