Maybe 2025 might be the peak year for emissions but we'd need to cut them to beyond net zero by 2050. We need massive carbon removal from the atmosphere if we want to still want to have a livable world.

Seeing this just fills me with absolute despair at the climate situation. We are still at peak emissions. We haven't even begun decreasing emissions and even if we did, the warming that's baked from past emissions will last for centuries. We're cooked.

I understand people's apathy and frustration with GenAI. But it's now rather commonplace in studios - and even public engines - to have AI tools and integrations that are not intended to create slop. This sounds like a real effort to integrate specific models that help with particular workflows.

This is about building a new version of the RE engine to address specific pain points in production processes by having a range of machine learning (possibly GenAI) models to help developers overcome them. I need to spend more time going through this, but it reads like sensible AI adoption.

Capcom Engineers are building tools that aren't just Game Industry leading, but Tech Industry leading. And making it open source. But this will neither get coverage or apprication. Instead people will blindly fall for clickbait.
So the fastest JSON serializer for .NET now is developed by CAPCOM as part of their game engine that powers Resident Evil / Biohazard

I did not see that coming lol

https://github.com/CAPCOM-TD-OSS/REDoxThey’re also doing their own memory-management work underneath this. Instances are managed in 64 KB pages, with page reference counting plus cache and GC optimizations. The goal seems to be reducing the cost of managing huge numbers of objects while improving locality and avoiding some of the fragmentation problems they’ve had before.
This also makes CAPCOM’s REDox project much more interesting.

REDox is their open-source .NET serialization/data library, with JSON, CBOR, MessagePack-style structured data handling, lazy decoding, streaming, compact token storage, etc.
At first glance it just looks like a standalone .NET library.
In context, it looks much more like the kind of infrastructure they can write and test normally in C#, then feed into this RE:Runtime / RE:C++ pipeline and ship as native engine code.

1) This isn't about generating games or assets with AI, it's just about using automation tools for some processes like bug testing which isn't inherently bad 2) IGN should be embarrassed for this headline. It doesn't say "AI generation" as in generative AI, it's 世代, "generation" as in "time period"

Context Language Models New agent architecture where the LLM can edit its own context it seems to have emergent capabilities, creates its own memory management & organization algorithms, and coordinates multi agents github.com/facebookrese...
Diagram titled "How a Context Language Model edits its context: A simple step-by-step view" outlining an 8-step process:
 * Start of turn: Current editable context exists in memory with old messages.
 * LLM reads the context: The LLM evaluates the context and decides to run a bash command to edit it.
 * Harness mirrors context: The harness mirrors the old editable context into a file at /tmp/.live_ctx/LIVE_CTX_MAIN.txt.
 * Bash command runs: The bash command executes and may edit that file.
 * Harness parses file: If the file changed, the harness parses it back into a new edited context.
 * Tool call appended: The current assistant tool call is appended to the edited context.
 * Tool result appended: The tool result is appended below the tool call.
 * Next turn starts: The next turn begins with the edited old context, previous tool call, and previous tool result.
Key idea box: "The model edits the prior context first. The tool call and tool result from the current turn are appended afterward, so they can only be compacted on the next turn."
Footer summary:
 * Ordinary LM: Context mostly grows by appending.
 * CLM: The model can rewrite the editable part of context between turns.
