Zack Polanski had the chance to show real leadership. He blew it | Rafael Behr
A toxic debate over anti-Zionism leaves the Green leader looking like a passenger in the movement that carried him to the top, says Guardian columnist Rafael Behr

I’ve been absolutely plagued by a fruit fly today. Neighbours over the road must think I’m clapping along to some very esoteric jazz.

Why does it always go in this direction? I’d watch the flip out of a live-action HBO-style Paw Patrol or Fireman Sam.

And the impact knocked me onto the Silver Seat, so much so that the back of my head hit this upright.
An upright post attached to the headrest of a bus seat.

I was so excited that the Silver Seat was available that I rushed forward and banged my head on the upstairs windscreen.

I see Lorraine Kelly’s got herself a podcast where she interviews famous people. I’m surprised she hasn’t tried interviewing famous people before.

Top pop fact (one of many in my 2023 book #DontStopTheMusic, still very available): Stevie Wonder recorded the harmonica solo for I Feel for You on the afternoon of Thursday 5 Apr 1984. In the morning, he had sung at Marvin Gaye's funeral.

The people most furious about the idea that Labour might break its 2024 manifesto commitments on tax and public spending are people who voted against Labour in 2024.

If you had a free national social care service, it wouldn’t be an inheritance tax, it’d be an inheritance protection tax - a means by which inheritances weren’t burnt through by the current care lottery. There’s a way to make this appeal to self interest.
