A giant crater in the earth that is on fire beneath a shockingly beautiful cloudy sky and desert landscape.

This is for a New York Times piece from 6 days ago that I am just now seeing for the first time in my news feed.

The headline is The 'Gates to Hell's are dimming. That might not be a good thing.

The lede inside the story reads "A flaming crater of gas has burned in Turkmenistan for decades. Satellite imagery suggests that the fires are decreasing, but the environmental implications are unclear" if that gives you any meaningful context. It does not for me but I will not link them all the same.
