Energy suppliers urge UK govt to help households struggling with energy bills. Silence on cutting profit margins, windfall taxes on excessive profits. Household energy debt heading to £7bn. 120,000 a year die in fuel poverty. We can't afford privatisation and resulting profiteering.

Slander is spoken; libel is written. But this isn't either of those. It's detailed reporting from a respected outlet with damning evidence. And "most consequential Commerce Secretary in modern history" is as impressive as "shortest NBA player from Luxembourg"
Speaking on behalf of Lutnick, the White House said: "The BBC's pathetic and desperate attempt to slander Secretary Lutnick will do nothing to change the fact that he has been the most consequential Commerce Secretary in modern history."

Fascinated by the Jack Smith/Eric Schmitt thing because I can’t grasp how desperate you would need to be to ‘own’ an opponent to end up in such a humiliating mess. I ‘think’ it’s because Trump loyalists have been so grossly dishonest that they have to convince themselves that the other lot are too.

A year after his explosive tenure at Doge, the SpaceX CEO is back in the Trump administration’s good graces Pete Hegseth announced on Wednesday that Elon Musk will co-lead a government project to study the future of warfare, marking the SpaceX CEO’s first return to government since he ran the chaotic, so -called “department of government efficiency”, or Doge. Musk will be joined by Palmer Luckey, CEO of the defense tech company Anduril, and Newt Gingrich, the former Republican speaker of the House. A defense department press release on the effort, called Project Meridian, described its goal as “identifying the capabilities required to achieve absolute technological dominance on the next-generation battlefield”. Supreme court allows Trump to temporarily resume deporting people to third countries – live
More than 25,000 people have been deported to 29 countries under the policy implemented last year, according to a tally by human rights groups * Sign up to the US Breaking News email For some context, it’s worth remembering that Smith had a two-volume report of his findings as a result of his criminal investigations – that resulted in two indictments against the president after his first term. The first focused on Donald Trump’s attempts to overturn the 2020 election, while the second on the president’s retention of classified documents.
