FRIDAY SHOP PLUG! matpringleillustration.bigcartel.com 'Tis the season for ghoulish linocut prints that delve deep beneath the blood dappled soil into the gnarled roots of folklore and folk horror. This linocut bunting features graven illustrations inspired by corn dollies, standing stones...
Linocut artwork carefully printed the directly onto wooden bunting. There are nine different prints across nine bits of plywood measuring approximately 15cm x 13cm each. The three in the picture depict two skeleton lovers, a witch hare and mask of sticks.

ain’t a search
for beauty

is it

but to feed

I didn't get very far with drafting a poem for #PoemsAbout #Rot this week, so here's the start of something that I might finish at some point... The skeletons bang on the closet doors, flesh, long since having rotted away,

A quick poem written on the theme of #Wonder for #NationalPoetryDay
A poem written by Francesca L Rolle:
I will pluck a star from the sky,
To drop into one of your eyes,
So that you can see the world in two halves,
One through a lens of starlight,
And the other,
Through the sun,
So that you will never be afraid of the dark,
And you will always follow the wonder of the rising dawn.

Most of the time, her o’s were o’s, but on days when the wind came up hard, she couldn’t help slipping into her mother’s voice. "It’s getting #stormy outside", she'd say with the "a" where the "o" ought to be. She’d catch herself, feel that old flicker of embarrassment, and then miss her. #vss365

Something I just found in my notes... Unfurling, hastened, By thick eyes, Scratching beneath the surface, Of skin slick with salt, Sweat and tears mingling, To form a crust, That cracks at the slightest touch, Revealing raw, red emotion, A warning flag, A sentinel of fear #Poetry #WIP

Anxiety, shallow breaths, lumpy catches in the throat, at the solar plexus, unmoored weightlessness of lung & head, the body paradoxically rooted, yet unable to find repose, mind flitting across preoccupations, not knowing where to focus yet focused on itself, preying on itself, is our condition now

I very much enjoyed 'The Death of Robin Hood'. A little slow paced for some perhaps, particularly as a contrast to the grizzly start, but I appreciated the complex story of human nature it was telling. The soundtrack by Jim Ghedi was sublime. tidal.com/album/529869...

A poem titled 'Donations' by Francesca L Rolle:
My memories find space between the threads binding the old jumper together,
Part of me will trickle into its new owner,
Like when heart transplant patients talk about suddenly craving their donor's mother's stew,
This jumper that was thrown on the day you were born,
That softly embraced all my emotions as I cried over spilled milk, literally, the day we brought you home,
But you've grown up and I've grown fat,
So, into the crumpled plastic bag for life it goes,
Along with the jeans that will pass on the memory of hiking through woodland getting muddy and kicking up wet leaves,
Cherubim cheeks and giggles all the way home,
A bargain buy, some old clothes for a few quid,
With the wisdom of another life, for free, on the side.
