For #FossilFriday, here's some 2019 #paleoart of Deinonychus subduing a juvenile Sauroposeidon using the Raptor Prey Restraint (RPR) model of dromaeosaur predation: grabbing prey with taloned feet, pinning it down with its body weight, and then eating it alive. Just like modern raptors, then.
A yellowish feathered predatory dinosaur has leapt onto the back of a small long-necked dinosaur, forcing it roughly to the ground. It has grasped the back of the herbivore with taloned feet, and holds its wings out for stability. Dust swirls around them as they wrestle.

The friend in the passenger seat asks the other, “so, whats the move tonight?” Panel 2: a third friend in the backseat, a Qu from CM Kosemen’s book All Tomorrows, chimes in. It says, “we could genetically modify some people.” Panel 3: the passenger seat friend turns to the backseat and says, “nah, man. Why do you keep saying that?” The Qu says, “my bad.”

here's this week's #Paleostream flocking sketches (im late because i was swamped with uni work) this week we sketched Sharovipteryx, Sinopterus, Pachycrocuta, and Ptolemaia
amongst dense Calamites growth, a Sharovipteryx that's clinging to one of the Calamites trunks looks away from the camera while stretching its left leg towards it, its large gliding membrane can be seen coloured as a bright orange with yellows, creams, and greens mixed in

Sharovipteryx is an ancient relative of archosaurs (birds and crocodilians) that lived in middle to late of Triassic Batken, Kyrgyzstan. it was preserved with large membranes between its hindlimbs and its tail, most likely used for gliding from place to place

Calamites is a genus of tree-like horsetail relatives which would've appeared similar to horsetails overall, just far largeratop a mound nest on the ground, a Sinopterus parent is illuminated from above by a soft light, its subtly striped crest and purple-green iridescence stand out amongst the relatively dull background

Sinopterus is a tapejarid pterosaur (frugivorous flying reptiles with large soft-tissue crests) known from early Cretaceous Liaoning, China. it was recently the subject of heightened attention after a paper by Wu et al. (2026) recovered that the pycnofibres on various patches of the body of a specimen possessed morphology similar to those in feathers that refract purple-green iridescence in birds, along with a patch of preserved skin above the premaxillary crest that may have had 3 subtle stripes along its lengthin the early morning fog, a pregnant Pachycrocuta licks its lips clean after gorging on a meal. blood and flesh still stain its face however

Pachycrocuta is the largest hyena found so far, it lived in the Pliocene to middle Pleistocene all across Eurasia. It's fittingly known as the short-faced hyena due to its significantly shorter snout compared to its living relatives, it would've stood at around 1metre tall at the shouldera Ptolemaia sticks its snout towards the camera and takes a lick of the lens

Ptolemaia is a basal afrothere (ancient ancestor of aadrvarks, hedgehogs, tenrecs, etc.) from Faiyum, Egypt. it's only known from a crushed skull, but from that skull we can infer that it would've been omnivorous and not particularly specialised, it did already possess a long snout however

yesterday on #Paleostream flocking we did a tribute to Sir David Attenborough! we sketched Attenborosaurus conybeari, Microleo attenboroughi, Caipirasuchus attenboroughi, and Materpiscis attenboroughi #AusPalaeo
an Attenborosaurus has taken a gulp of air and dives back down beneath the waves to continue about its day

Attenborosaurus conybeari is a genus of long-necked plesiosaur from the early Jurassic of Dorset, England. it's actually closer to the famously short necked plesiosaurs being a pliosaurid (like Liopleurodon) than it is to the famous long-necked forms like Elasmosaurusa bright light illuminates a Microleo which was laying down on a bare tree branch

Microleo attenboroughi is a small relative of Thylacoleo (the marsupial lion) from Miocene Waanyi country, Australia. it would've been around the size of a ring-tailed possum, it's only known from a jaw fragment, however that jaw fragment has the self-sharpening premolar that the group is famous fora sleepy Caipirasuchus attenboroughi rests under the light spread around by a fern frond above it, its nyctitating membrane caught mid-blink in the image as it slowly lowers its head down to sleep

Caipirasuchus attenboroughi is a genus of notosuchian (terrestrial crocs) from late Cretaceous São Paulo, Brazil. it would've looked like a crocodilian that had a taller and smaller skull, as well as relatively more smooth in appearance as its osteoderms may have been covered by leathery skina male Materpiscis attenboroughi swims above a mix of sponges and dead horn coral, a larger placoderm can be see in the back

Materpiscis attenboroughi is a kind of placoderm (armoured fish) from Gooniyandi country, Australia. there are no male specimens of Materpiscis, i have based its hooked and grasping claspers off of its close relative Ctenurella and given its rostral processes a speculative extension as a sort of display structure. it would've appeared similar to a chimaera (ratfish) although the two arent closely related and this similarity is merely convergence

Moriarty's "Minions" T. rex trio dossier for Taliesaurus' fan adaptation of the first Dinoverse book. #Trex #Tyrannosaurus #Tyrannosaurusrex #Dinoverse #Dinosaur #Paleoart #Paleofantasy
Concept sheet of the loosely affiliated Tyrannosaurus rex trio that take advantage of Moriarty's overkilling of turtles on the beach from Dinoverse by Scott Ciencin, for deviantart.com/taliesaurus' fan adaptation of the book. The words on the image read, "Moriarty's 'Mionions' tyrants of turtle beach." In the main rendered drawing they are facing left. There is a large adult female in the middle and two juvenile or subadult males on both sides with one feasting on a turtle flipper and looking more toward the viewer. They have the characteristic orange bodies and yellow crests with green plumage on the young males. Around the sides are scenes from the fan adaptation of various moments feasting on turtles and interacting with the main characters of the story.
