I'm more the quiet type, muttering my spells usually -- tho some are completely quiet. It's nothing I plan; it's just my natural inclination. I use cadence to help me remember. I like to blow over my works to give life to them, but I'm a little wind-witchy that way. #FolkWitchFriday #WitchSky

In a way almost everyone has a connection to the magic of nursery rhymes. I remember when my father used to sing the Swedish folk song "vyssan lull" for me. I then sang it for my son. I still get calm today when I sing it. For me, music and singing has a special kind of magic in its own right.

My first memory of blood stopping: Mama cut her hand putting up creamed corn for the freezer. Granny grabbed the broom, swept down spiderwebs from the eave to pack the wound, and muttered Ezekiel 16:6. The bleeding ceased right there at the kitchen table. #FolkWitchFriday #WitchSky

Spoken traditions don't always require long verses. Sometimes the most effective practice is one personal word that serves as a quiet reset button - centering focus, clearing the room, & anchoring the moment through steady repetition. I have a word of power that serves this purpose. #FolkWitchFriday

#FolkWitchFriday Join in the conversation tomorrow! Folk magic has always had a cadence. From old blood-stopping verses and knotting rhymes to quiet couplets muttered while sweeping, rhythm gives words weight. Do you use spoken charms, old nursery rhymes, or rhythmic breath to seal your working?

1/2 A dear subject to me! I have a close connection to trees, plants and birds. Its a relationship that started in my childhood. And I realise I've maintained that without even thinking of it. I constantly talk to trees I pass on my walks, I greet birds and sit in silence with my favorites.

#Witchsky #FolkWitchFriday The way I see animism directly informs how I interact with the world. Everything has spirit yet not everything is awake. The more awake something is and the more it's involved in my life the more I interact with it. The more I check in to see if it needs something.

To live animism is to remember you are nature walking around. We don’t stand apart looking in; the divine spark flows equally through bone, timber, wind, and stone. When everything shares vitality, every daily encounter becomes a conversation between kin. #FolkWitchFriday #WitchSky #OccultSky

I think the most profound difference that Animism helps me see is the fact that the world is relational rather than just... objects floating in space. Each thing affecting another. Not only physically, but emotionally, in waves, all connected in communication. #FolkWitchFriday

Swamp animism is simple: It has a mind and a will. From sunning gators to dragonfly sentinels, the Okefenokee is crowded with spirits and old watchers. When I take photos or share lore, it’s not content - it’s reciprocity offered back to the living waters. #FolkWitchFriday #WitchSky
My Photo, my feet!

For me, the world is crowded with conversation. Greeting dragonflies, asking trees before cutting, & giving saliva as an exchange of life-force. Inanimate doesn't exist; even tools & poppets awaken - the living presence stirred & strengthened by the way we address & handle them. #FolkWitchFriday

Hmm...Literally everything has a spirit. I had a student question me about it. Take a stone, split it in 2. Is the original spirit in both? Yes & no. You have split the spirit as well. Each half will have unique experiences, further changing them into different beings. Same for everything. 🤷‍♂️

I have a specific juniper that I collect sprigs from for cleansing rituals. I SWEAR that I can hear her tell me how many I'm allowed to take each time. I NEVER walk away without thanking her for them. This isn't necessarily 'honoring' the water, but I keep DETAILED info on my 🌙 water. ⬇️

Some trees are more than hedge anchors, landmarks in the lane. They stand out as guardians, green monarchs of their kingdoms. At twilight there is often a sense of them wishing to speak of what they have seen – whether to give a blessing or warning is hard to tell. – #DAKilroy, 1982

Blackthorn is uniquely suited for spirit traps due to its mythological association. It's often referred to as the "Dark Mother of the Woods" and is heavily tied to the Crone archetype. It represents winter, and death, and acts as both a bridge or barrier to the spirit realm. #FolkWitchFriday
