Natural omens, mainly. Sudden and unexpected storms, rare plant and animal sightings. Repeated symbols in shadows cast through the trees and shapes formed by my throwing bones. Eventually, I may see them in deep meditation and dreams. I can be stubborn so it takes a lot #WitchSky #FolkWitchFriday

In my work as a librarian I often experience synchronicities. Libraries are magical places and lots of strange beautiful things happens there. For example I've experienced that somebody asks about a book, and then, just minutes later, exactly that book is returned by another patron.

For me it is visitation in dreams by beloved dead (both right after their death and out of the blue years later). The dreams are intensely vivid and the dead speak quite pertinently and clearly to me. Something experienced in my maternal line from grandmother to aunt to me #FolkWitchFriday #WitchSky

Repeated numbers on my phone's clock is a big one for me. At the beginning of my spiritual journey, I took this FAR TOO seriously. Like, sent myself into psychosis. 😬 Now, I take notice but I don't go diving down rabbit holes to find the meaning. Lately, it's been 555, 333, 544, & 344.

Since some of the spirits I work with take on a mentor/instructor role with me, the synchronicities that I experience often reinforce what they're teaching me. A spirit might teach me a new spell or ritual, then the next day I'll stumble upon a book or article that describes the same technique.

Synchronicities often happen in a combo of printed words & sometimes images. A picture of plant calls to me, then I see an online article about them, then a mention in a print zine & so on. They can show up in a convo. Sometimes dream visitations. #PaganSky #DreamWitch #FolkWitchFriday

For me, synchronous signs are almost always songs repeating in my head. Otherwise, when spirits try to talk to me, I get several different signs with a common meaning. Like creatures that I associate with the night or the underworld showing up frequently. #FolkWitchFriday #WitchSky

It’s wild how messages line up when you’re meant to get them. For me, it’s hawks screaming close overhead back to back, followed by strangers out in public saying the exact words tied to what I’m chewing on. "Reality" really just turns the volume all the way up. #FolkWitchFriday #WitchSky #FolkWitch

I am so dense 😂😅😅😅 It's ok. They know this lol So I'll usually get one symbol, EXACTLY repeated, in 3 separate, completely unrelated areas. Seriously. Even the pose of that horse is exactly the same, in the tea, that really random book cover, and that spot on the banana 😂 #FolkWitchFriday

When the world wants your attention, it starts repeating itself. Three sightings of the same creature, an odd phrase echoed by strangers, or a sudden sequence of strange coincidences. How do synchronicities show up when the universe is trying to get a word in edgewise? #FolkWitchFriday #WitchSky

I did an end of the day #Witchywalk in the woods. This section of the path was so evocative of where we are in the season. A sun-filled day with autumn foliage, with the gate into the dark half of the year not far ahead. #WitchSky

I use many different techniques at different times. I have rhymes I sing for herb gathering; I sing and chant for big rituals to raise energy and send out the intention, and sometimes I use the modern "knot of one" spell. #FolkWitchFriday

Repetition has always been what I end up with. Breathing out after each verse... like when giving life to something. Small chants just work for me. Mostly spoken. My mother and grandmother worked in whispers. Sound was not allowed. #FolkWitchFriday What about you?

Sound wasn't allowed because when you whisper, people had to strain to hear you. So they felt the universe bent low and listened to their whispers more than a shout or song. Now did this originate from a lack of safety? Probably. 🫠 #FolkWitchFriday

In traditional folklore and witchcraft, a cat's habit of sitting on thresholds, windowsills, or doorways made them natural sentinels who monitored what entered or left a space. They are creatures of liminal spaces, the betwixt and between. #FolkWitchFriday #WitchSky #Cats

My cats alert me to spirits. Mr. Kitten loves when I record trance journeys. He tells me he is friends with the animal guardians of the forest. The moose, bear, and prehistoric salmon. Now he's recovering from a day of roofers pounding on the ceiling with the guardian stag. #FolkWitchFriday

Familiars in folk practice are living guardians at the sill. My dog Rebel woke us to 30ft flames engulfing a neighbor’s house. Our dog Freckles sounded an urgent alarm that saved my son’s life. Familiars keep watch over the threshold and our blood. #FolkWitchFriday #WitchSky #FolKWitch

Working the swamp means knowing "The Landlord." When I asked for a deeper connection to Alligator, the waters answered with a found carcass. Cleaning the skull and working bone into poppets bridges the wild water to the bench. Flesh falls away; relationship remains. #FolkWitchFriday #WitchSky

Otherworldly allies often step through dreams, carrying unmistakable signatures across the veil. Waking, I look to the sky: a hawk’s sudden cry, dusk owls, or a bluebird breaking pattern. When an animal insists on entering the conscious mind, I listen. #FolkWitchFriday #Animism #WitchSky

Water nymph, mud crawler, aerial master, and lethal spark of fire - the dragonfly holds all four corners of the wild. They are my fierce allies in the swamp and across the threshold of dreams. A quiet perch on an outstretched finger seals our bond. #FolkWitchFriday #Animism #FolkWitch

Because I work so much on the Other Side, so is my Familiar. Their work is threshold work, being a liason, and mediating. They learn everything about how different spirits work (on both sides) while I'm able to find out what they need and how to make their lives easier. #FolkWitchFriday
