People are right to be mad about the predictable Platner fiasco, but it's worth remembering that last year a ton of establishment Democrats supported disgraced sexual harasser Andrew Cuomo against clean-as-a-whistle Zohran. Tolerating problem men is an issue across the ideological spectrum.

That's not irony, that's just a falsification of the claim that saying "working class" means "white". Democrats have held power at a number of points since the 1980s. They could have done more economically for the group that is most stagnant since then.
Screen shot of two skeets in a thread.

First skeet:

When people say: “Democrats abandoned the working class” they are saying several things but not what they intend. A 🧵

First, the message is “working class” == White. All the Black people I know work. All of them. So these terms are a big choice that conservatives AND leftists repeatedly make.

Second skeet:
Ironically, the group most stagnant since 1980 remain Black Americans. And since the narrative is that government is “devoted to helping Black people,” the undermining and delegitimization of all government policy is incredibly easy to achieve. This goes from union busting to consumer protection

Building more secure software was within human capability without LLMs. It just isn't something that industry chooses to do unless outside pressure or consequences make them do that. Maybe scary AI hackers will force them to do it now.

Enthusiasts for vibe coding complain that people's standards for correctness of code are too high. That is a crazy position to hold after Claude Mythos. The danger of Mythos-like LLMs is mostly a story about how bad our existing code is.

It's dumb for Bernie Sanders to talk to Claude, and personality driven social movements are doomed as a vehicle for human liberation. But complaining about "Bernie Bros" in 2026 is much stupider and more embarrassing than talking to Claude as a stunt.

There's probably a lot of people in that last movement who disagree with you. Would you say that 46% of lesbian, gay and bisexual Americans responding to the poll below are anti-religion bigots or chauvinists?
screenshot of graph with title: "46% of lesbian, gay and bisexual Americans say religion does more harm than good in society"
Other data in graph: 37% claim equal amounts of good than harm
17% more good than harm

Also listed are results for not lesbian, gay or bisexual Americans, with nearly reversed numbers, 17% more harm than good, 35% equal, 47% more good than harm.

Now, again to be clear, I don't know that LLM's are or aren't conscious, ensouled, sentient, whatever language you want to use; but I do know that we should be very suspicious of those who a) make money off of people thinking they are [C,E,S,w/e] & b) try very hard to nudge us into thinking they are

LLMs might be useful for narrow cases like writing test cases for your code or something. They might be useful for more complex tasks when the costs of failure are low.

Billions or trillions of next tokens predicted plus reinforcement learning may give you lots of raw information about the world, but it gives you neither something that consistently follows rational or moral principles, nor something with an inner life that you could judge as trustworthy or not.

You can't trust that it isn't hallucinating, you can't trust that it will consistently follow some rule you give it, because there is nothing to trust or distrust.

An LLM has *information* about the external world, but it doesn't "understand" it in the sense that it is not actually an intelligent agent with authentic preferences.

Maybe Left should take LLMs more seriously, but this paragraph is definitely wrong, and understanding why it is wrong is crucial not just in forming a political response, but also to remaining sane interacting with LLMs to perform any tasks. www.transformernews.ai/p/the-left-i...
screenshot of this paragraph: "Yet the properties of scale do not often enter the left conversation. Nor do several other factors. Factors such as the likelihood that training a system to predict across millions of different cases forces it to build representations of the world that then, even if you want to reserve the word “understanding” for beings that walk around talking out of mouths, produce outputs that look a lot like understanding. Or that reserving words like “understanding” for humans depends on eliding the fact that nobody agrees on what it or “intelligence” or “meaning” actually mean. And that, if you’re arguing for human uniqueness, you need to show that the trillions of neuron-connections in the brain aren’t also doing next-token prediction, or something like it."

I'm sorry, is the Trump Administration talking to a tech platform? Is it...requesting content moderation?
Today following outreach from @thejusticedept, Facebook removed a large group page that was being used to dox and target @ICEgov agents in Chicago.
The wave of violence against ICE has been driven by online apps and social media campaigns designed to put ICE officers at risk just for doing their jobs. The Department of Justice will continue engaging tech companies to eliminate platforms where radicals can incite imminent violence against federal law enforcement.

If 25% of people think they personally would be better off with a factory job, but 2% currently have one, is that not a reason to think that the 80% are correct? There is no logical inconsistency in saying that I don't want a factory job but *also* a huge chunk of people in your poll want one!
