Every time someone links to this film, I have to repost it. It's one of the most significant bits of British 20th century art. Everything about it is incredible. Groundbreaking music production by Daphne Oram. Amazing camera work by Wolfgang Suschitzky (who later filmed Get Carter).-

Fuck it, send me your model railway pics.
A black and white night-time photo of a modified Hornby J36 - specifically 65243 'Maude' in early BR black livery - and ex-LNER brake van in BR grey in tow. A somewhat incongruous, but nonetheless lovely, Rapido model of a double decker Guy Arab in Birmingham colours meanders along the road bridge in the background, it's lit interior showing that there aren't many people taking the bus at this hour.

Finally completed, MTK white metal kit of a Class 40 diesel locomotive. So many side projects over the course of this build. It's taken two years up to now. The final tedious hurdle was cutting and placing 20 clear plastic windows. Here are pics of where it started, up to today. #modeltrains

Rat! The old bachmann model weathered and bodged, with a new exhaust and replacement couplings. The real 25054 was a London Midland region engine for its entire life, ending its days at Crewe in 1985.
A front three quarter view of a blue diesel with yellow ends sat on a shelf.

The No.2 end received replacement Oleo buffers at some point, which were left in their green primer.A side on view of a blue diesel with yellow ends sat on a shelf.

Whilst a fairly ratty engine (hohoh) it would’ve been through carriage cleaners fairly regular, leaving most of the shite on the roof and underframes. The original exhaust was positioned far to the left. The exposed mechanism of the model, showing the cab interior.

Invisible from the exterior, complete waste of time!A front three quarter view of a blue diesel with yellow ends sat on a shelf.

The No.1 end cab, regular buffers.

A number of lesser-known British aircraft types which played a part (however minor) in the Second World War have been somewhat lost to history. Several of these took part in the Anglo-Iraqi war of 1941, when Rashid Ali al-Gaylani staged a coup with German and Italian assistance. 📷 Frank Wooton 🧵1/19

Yes, Swiss scientist Fritz Zwicky coined the term “dark matter” which is impressive, but he also coined the term “spherical bastard” to describe people who are bastards no matter which way you look at them, and I think that should be celebrated more.

A fugly little model I've done Little 0-4-0st No.1563: The Hodbarrow Avonside. This is built from a Oakhill Works SS with some modifications to the base to make it larger. I've spent a while bashing it, and it still needs some work, but I'm happy with it for the time

In the 1920s, there was a rejected proposal to electrify the Leakbeck & Portethwaite to future-proof the line. The idea never got feet but it can only be speculated on what the locomotives might have looked like... Art by @theartistash.bsky.social

Travelling down the harbour branch in the 1940s, No.1 "BRIGITTE" hauls a train of loaded vans and open wagons loaded with product from the billiam quarry. Never seeing passengers, the line that ran between houses was never kept free of weeds and made some believe the engine was off on a jolly.

The real MVP was The Beast, of course.
Class 37/4 37403 Isle of Mull idles in the platform at Bo’ness station. Unlike Lord Bob, 403 is not decorated for the festive season. She is not the focus of these trains, merely a humble servant. And, like all good servants, she ALWAYS serves.

Absolutely lethal in the hands of a thrash merchant - of which Bo’ness has several - and easily the best thing you can get at a day out on the railway or on an SRPS railtour.
