It's eight years today since we lost Chas Hodges, half of the inimitable Chas & Dave. Chas was a huge train buff, his favourites being these, the Britannia class. He was also a big Tottenham Hotspur fan so this, a picture of 70011 Hotspur from the Crecy Rail archive, is for Chas.

True story. Steve Goodman, who died 42 years ago today, was inspired to write the song 'City of New Orleans' after hearing the Illinois Central Railroad was about to axe the train of the same name (which ran daily between Chicago and New Orleans) due to falling passenger numbers.
