We are a broken nation. Hundreds of thousands of Haitians were living and working legally, paying taxes, and contributing. Haiti remains wholly unsafe. But Trump hates Haitians, and the White House wanted videos of Black people in chains, so they stripped them of status and turned on the cameras.

Cool cool so this means judges can automatically decide against ICE when footage is withheld, right? Since the act of withholding the footage is basically an admission of ICE’s guilt and/or the other party’s innocence? So nice of ICE to make it crystal clear, at least in the court of public opinion.

Another piece of evidence that the ICE operations are about racism, not law and order. This story and others in the article are heartbreaking.
Rosa walked into the Whipple Federal Building, the headquarters of ICE in Minnesota, on Jan. 23 with her husband, their 6-year-old daughter and the paperwork they needed for a routine check-in. Friends had warned Rosa not to go to the meeting because many people never returned, but Rosa's husband reassured her: "We have paperwork," she remembers him saying. After sitting in a waiting room for eight hours, Rosa said, three agents entered. They placed handcuffs on her husband, informed the family they would be separated, and whisked her husband out the door.
Then, the agents ushered Rosa and her daughter in and out of hallways and holding cells, on and off airplanes. They spent the night on the floor of a room. Rosa had no idea where they were. Her daughter kept asking where her dad was. Neither of them could stop crying.

Since PTSD is being invoked to excuse any and all abuse and misconduct, let us acknowledge where it is most common. .... From my book Recollections of My Nonexistence.
The former Marine David J. Morris, author of a book on post-
traumatic stress disorder, notes that the disorder is far more com-
mon and far more rarely addressed among rape survivors than
combat veterans. He wrote me, “The science on the subject is pretty
clear: according to the New England Journal of Medicine, rape is about
four times more likely to result in diagnosable PTSD than combat.
Think about that for a moment— being raped is four times more psy-
chologically disturbing than going off to a war and being shot at and
blown up. And because there are currently no enduring cultural nar-
ratives that allow women to look upon their survival as somehow he-
roic or honorable, the potential for enduring damage is even greater.”
