Many people are anti the genocide in Gaza but believe in a two state solution & don't think Israel & Palestine should be replaced by one super state (Israeli or Palestinian). Under this policy people who have marched, donated, advocated for Palestine are now racist as they think Israel should exist!

I doubt whether the total income of all the workers on the 6 am bus out of my town on their way to cleaning, caring and hospitality jobs is much more than £100K a year but, Kemi Badenoch may not agree, they work bloody hard.

All of this. I also want to add that, in my research, I found that a lot of “inconsistencies” in a victim’s story actually came from gender bias affecting investigators’ record keeping and interview methods.

I don't understand why Labour don't make more of this. Austerity deliberately underfunded multiple public services with no clear benefit. Now Labour are needing to invest in them to stop them collapsing. Taxes should go towards preserving & improving public services, otherwise what is the point.

They are threatening to remove citizenship from those filmmakers too. Israel at the moment is obviously a racist state and they are attacking Christians as well as orthodox Jews. That doesn't mean that every Jew who believes in any kind of Zionism is racist & shouldn't be allowed in the Green party.

I get that but the proposals that article is discussing are based on that. Although I don't agree with everything he says I get why non-racist, anti Netanyahu Jews, who want to see a two state solution & Israel return to its original borders, but still exist, are worried about these motions.

A man builds an IED. He sets it off in a busy public street. Shrapnel flies about hitting cars, homes and a child's bedroom. It's a miracle nobody is injured. And Reform MP Sarah Pochin calls his imprisonment "disproportionate" and "two tier justice."
It does raise this point of two-tiered
justice..

Reform's Sarah Pochin believes the
sentence handed to the 64-year-old who
blew up a ULEZ camera was
disproportionate'.

Of course the Israeli government and the settlers are racist that is undeniable. That doesn't mean that a one state solution is the correct response. Getting rid of Israel isn't going to undo the damage done to Palestine. (And would be an unworkable/unelectable policy).

Apart from the fact that it isn't within any realm of possibility, a one state solution would not solve the conflict. You can't just get rid of countries, even if their leadership is abhorrent. A two state solution is the only way to bring peace, which means the existence of both Israel & Palestine.

Working in a book shop years ago people would often flag you down asking "do you work here?", and I just could not stop myself saying "Well, 'work' is a bit strong, but what can I do for you?" Across three years I got maybe two laughs and one manager complaint.

You should never actually watch it, but a key to understanding Kemi is her Triggernometry interview where she explains her immigration policy, the (very friendly) host explains it back to her, and she immediately declares that isn't what she said, so re-explains it, and then it happens again.

I don't know why they stopped pointing that out during the campaign. Kamala & Walz had lovely families, were public servants, hit all the traditional values (family, law & order, fiscal responsibility, etc). It is crazy that a collecion of the worst people in America won. They are all incompetent.

There is a moment at the very very end of Abdul El-Sayed's podcast with Ezra Klein (book recommendation section) where he talks about the idea of "speaking truth to pain" and this will be staying with me for an extremely long time. www.nytimes.com/2026/09/25/o...
But there’s also something about truth to pain. We talk a lot about truth to power, but I think it’s actually a lot harder to speak truth to pain. I say that as someone who went to medical school, realizing that in a lot of our politics right now, we’ve got to get a lot better at speaking truth to pain if we’re going to get through some of these challenges that we have.

What does “truth to pain” mean?

It’s one thing to look power in the eye and say: You’re wrong about this. But there’s a way in which pain is very difficult to reason with. Because when somebody is in their pain, they’re in their trauma. They see that pain, and they may not see what’s causing it.

I remember just very explicitly being in a trauma ward with a gunshot wound patient and watching this big guy with his hand on his gunshot wound. All the folks are trying to pull his hand off his pain, that point of his gunshot wound, this clear vulnerability.

And this emergency room doctor had the presence of mind to be like: Everyone, stop. And she looks him in the eyes, and she’s like: I get that really hurts, and I’m so sorry that you’re here. You don’t want to be here. We don’t want you to be here. But if you don’t let us fix this, you could die. So I’m going to take your hand, and I’m going to move it off, OK? Because I need to get there so that you can live.

She was speaking truth to pain. He understands he’s at the hospital, he needs care, but he also doesn’t want anybody to touch the wound. Which is a natural thing. And I think it is a really great metaphor for how we think about a lot of these challenges we talked about today.

Pretty clear to me there’s a very good case against this man for mass murder, and I’m saying that in as measured a fashion as I can. He’s order the killing of 234 people under no plausible war or legal justification. I am skeptical he will ever face legal accountability for til his but he should.
