New tribunal stats out this morning - at the end of June there were 90,741 asylum appeals outstanding, around 117,000 people. That's around three times the size of asylum backlog now. A year earlier it was 60,000 cases. The average time to disposal of an appeals increased again to 72 weeks.

Where are we now on earned settlement? - With Starmer resigning and Burnham preparing to take the reins, a change of leadership is a chance to change direction. - 200,000 ppl responded to the public consultation on earned settlement, and 500 travelled to Parliament in March to lobby their MPs.

Repealing the Vagrancy Act is a positive step. But, if the govt is serious about ending rough sleeping they must recognise how oppressive & cruel immigration rules cause rough sleeping.
