Not to forget: we still need reinforces urban greening & especially tree plans, even if it’s only a pleasant late September day today. Yes, a few parking lots will disappear, but it will be better for all remaining parking lots AND citizens.

Too big too fail should apply to industrial operations not the ownership claims. If a bank fails, the owners made the wrong bet. Let their claims go to zero. If public powers are needed to preserve the functional apparatus of the bank, then put it under public ownership.

Few know this but almost all the economic news coming out of China for the past half decade -- Domestic Growth Slowdown! EVs! Solar! Exports! China Shock 2.0 etc etc -- is about this dramatic policy driven gear-shift of the domestic economy out of the property sector.

Good explanation why spending more on defence doesn’t mean we need to cut back on infrastructure, care, etc. Money is not the constraint, real resources are what matters.

For centuries, Bedouins across the Middle East and North Africa have covered their entire body in the heat. They remain comfortable — or as comfortable as one can be in such temperatures — because their clothing is loose, thus allowing for airflow. This way, your body can breathe.
A man with a trained falcon used for hunting. He's wearing long, loose fitting garments. A young man plays a bagpipe instrument. He's wearing long, loose fitting garments. A Bedouin elder and his camel. He is wearing long, loose fitting garments. Men dance during wedding celebrations. They are wearing long, loose fitting garments.

+39,5% market share for BEVs in Germany 🇩🇪 over the past 12 months -7,6% overall for vehicles that still run on fossil fuels If you don’t believe the narrative, check the facts. Electrification of transportation will only grow. It’s cheaper overall and reduces geopolitical exposure.

Portugal-Croatia showed again how ridiculous the whole VAR thing is. We cannot see with our naked eyes if the player touched the ball or not but we destroy the whole dynamic of the game with the crushing weight of a meaningless bureacratic act. VAR must go, so that football can live.

They tried their best to give it the real American vibe
About 20 minutes later, roughly eight police officers in plain clothes surrounded us and pulled us out of the event. None of them wore visible identification, only flashing a badge for a short enough time to not register. When we first asked who they were, they physically pushed us, said “we are police” and to come with them immediately.
For the next 15 minutes or so, the officers confiscated our IDs and questioned us. They asked whether The European Correspondent had a political leaning, whether we had an agenda, and how we had got into the event (that the American embassy invited us to).

Renewables-plus-storage is so cheap that in large parts of the world it is cheaper to build a whole new clean power plant than just pay for the fuel and maintenance for a fully-depreciated gas generator. Renewables aren’t just threatening new-build gas — they are undermining existing plants.

So it is entirely possible for China to trace the complete downstream value chain of its minerals for geopolitical purposes but it is too much to ask from European companies to trace their supply chains for human rights and sustainability reasons? giftarticle.ft.com/giftarticle/...
So what to do, apart from not starting from here? Even apparent solutions like precautionary stockpiling of critical minerals have problems. China’s rare earths export controls regime requires end-user licences, enabling Beijing to withhold sales from any buyer it suspects of insulating itself against coercion. China really has thought this through very well.
