Costs the Earth. My cartoon in today's @theageaustralia.bsky.social and @sydmorningherald.bsky.social
A political cartoon by Megan Herbert showing three vignette drawings with captions below each one. First is a drawing of ceramic piggy bank labelled "Cost of attending COP talks." Second is a large sack full of money labelled "Cost of doing what COP recommends". Third is the Earth labelled, "The cost of doing neither."

Allowing Open AI to call these “rogue agents” lets them dodge responsibility - they made them, directed them and set them free without caring about the consequences. Our laws need to catch up to hold them accountable before worse happens.

The word “rogue” is carefully selected, and wrong: A person who “goes rogue” uses their consciousness to decide to act against orders. Software is not conscious, doing only what it has been programmed to do. If software is doing things its creators didn’t anticipate, that is DEFECTIVE, not rogue.

Yet more evidence for the towering heap of proof that synthetic users are bullshit. As with all AI products, they do not improve "productivity" for a task but create an excuse not to do the task. In this case, the task is research. AI participants do not help you do research, but to AVOID research.

If it’s mostly oil prices that have caused the CPI rise, wouldn’t that be excluded from the trimmed mean which I think they’ve said is their main guiding metric? Seems counterintuitive to raise and lower interest rates to match oil prices when the oil going up already reduces spending!?! 🤪

America had wiped out measles. Now babies are infected at birth.
Congenital measles has rarely been seen in the U.S. That’s changing as vaccination declines and more pregnant women become infected.
