The solar panels, electric vehicles, EV batteries and wind turbines exported by China in 2025 will avoid annual emissions equal to those of the UK and Portugal combined, according to my new estimates. Avoided emissions increased 30% compared with 2024 exports.

Want to help cash-strapped consumers struggling with skyrocketing oil prices? Then reduce barriers to EVs from China as Australia has done Latest example: the BYD Atto 1 at only €12,300 or $14,100(US) is now the cheapest car in Australia of any fuel type thedriven.io/2026/09/16/a...

Australia's cheapest new car is fully electric, and BYD's move will change the conversation about EVs
BYD's stunning low price for the Atto 1 is not just changing conversations about the transition to EVs, it is attacking one of the last bastions of the ICE market - the petrol hatch.

And it’s not just the colors that underplay it Bloomberg’s chart would be a lot uglier—and more useful in terms of climate+environmental impacts—if it showed primary energy use instead of final Fossil fuels are so inefficient their use will dwarf renewables if those projections are accurate

Eric Walters @ericwalters.bsky.social · 15/09/2026
How dare you mention primary energy use — all the cool kids are saying it’s a fallacy You’re supposed to convert to final energy use (like the Bloomberg chart in your reply post) so it doesn’t look as ugly and scary

The number 1 factor should be: how fast are we reducing use/burning of fossil fuel?
101
Eric Walters @ericwalters.bsky.social · 11/09/2026
Wild that the chart focuses almost exclusively on “share” and “intensity” while ignoring absolute numbers (esp fossil fuel use per year) Pretty big leap of faith to assume that decreasing ff share necessarily overcomes increasing demand esp since up until now hasn’t happened on a global scale
