Off-grid captive power is powering Indonesia’s industrial facilities in remote regions – yet they are overwhelmingly coal-fired. Ember estimates that captive power supplied 161 TWh of electricity to Indonesia’s industrial sector in 2025 – 12% more than official accounts.
