The Inquirer reported that the Philly School District is juking enrollment stats, including this quote from a principal: "They’re doing this so we don’t lose the funding." That statement is almost certainly wrong.

BREAKING: The Trump administration is asking the Supreme Court to allow essential health care to be withheld from transgender people in federal prisons. Denying medically-necessary care to any incarcerated person is cruel and unusual punishment — period.

The post-game departure felt no different from a normal game: busy platforms, but no need to wait more than 5 minutes for a train. The game ended at 8:50, it took 15 minutes to exit and walk to the station, and I got off at Walnut-Locust at 9:35. So easy and it made Philly look good.

The weeks before the World Cup supplied predictable doom and gloom about SEPTA’s capabilities, but SEPTA handled the World Cup game with no issues I could see. There were endless SEPTA vests guiding us. The trains came frequently and were full but not overwhelmed.

The pageantry of the World Cup surpasses any sporting event I’ve ever seen. Even though Ecuador fans outnumbered Ivory Coast by 50:1, both sides were organized and joyous. The building tension with every shot and pass kept the game enthralling even as it stayed 0-0 until the final minutes.

Can’t stop thinking about the World Cup game last night. The Ecuador fans were thrilling to behold. Their songs rivaled our best Fly Eagles Fly in volume and passion. The last-minute loss must have stung, but they were still upbeat as we trekked to the subway.

This is why the Democrats' current obsession with tax cuts is so dangerous. They're paving the way for more extreme proposals like ending progressive taxation altogether. Again, we don't need "Republican lite." We need a party that affirms that paying for the things government does is good.

It may not be the most important part of this story. But I sure would like to hear the Erie County DA and the assigned ADA explain the decision to make him plead guilty to trespassing and possession of a weapon, said weapon being the curtain rod that the blind man used as a walking stick.

They beat a blind refugee who speaks no English for failing to obey police commands he could not understand. Then instead of apologizing, they charged him with possession of a “weapon”—HIS WALKING STICK. Then they dumped him miles from home without notifying anyone, after which he was found dead.

How about trying pro-immigrant? Stand with the Statue of Liberty. To be a magnet for the skilled and striving, which benefits the US as a whole. Could a party please represent the majority of Americans who want immigration maintained or increased, not only cater to the 30% that want it decreased?
Elon Musk: For a country to survive, there has to be a common culture.

Nobody dies to defend a “multicultural economic zone”!

American culture, with its English-Scotts-Irish origin, is great and worth fighting for.

Some may not realize it, but that’s why people come here. I honestly don’t know. But where I disagree with Dem leadership is this: I don’t think constantly calling today’s Republicans reasonable and responsible is costless. And “winning the news cycle” matters less in a fractured media environment with a White House that doesn’t care about most Americans.

Still thinking about how much the McClellan/Lincoln divide relates to the current Democratic Party. Lincoln wasn’t an idealist—he wasn’t even an abolitionist—but he understood the structural necessities to winning the civil war and restoring the nation and ending slavery was one of them.

Good. We’d be in better shape today if we remembered McClellan more. His early savior image, his narrow ability, his towering self-regard, his disgust for his own strongest supporters, his misreadings of enemy strength, his unwillingness to fight. In him we could more clearly see our own leaders.

Real opening for Dems to run as the law and order party. So much corruption. So much abuse of individual rights. So much battery. So much contempt of court. Chaos, disorder. Run as party that will enforce the law against criminal goons. Of course Dems would need to stop funding the criming, too.

the demands schumer laid out, in light of existing rules and current ICE practices, are not a serious effort at modifying ICE’s behavior in any meaningful sense. they’re an attempt to mollify the base with meaningless bullshit without actually changing anything so they can move on to affordability

"Equal obligation" among citizens and government agents to "avoid violence" is a Hobbesian view of governance, the kind explicitly rejected by the Framers in favor of the Lockean social compact. The state is a trustee, the agents fiduciaries, the citizens beneficiaries. Read a book you dullards.
