New pinned post, at least for a bit. I usually get walloped with fresh self-doubt on the rare occasion I have one of my stories go live, but nearly 48 hours have passed and I still feel good about this one.

Crawford has taught journalism at American University and frequently speaks about the court to universities, law schools, legal organizations, and civic groups.

On October 18, 2026, she publicly praised a white nationalist for asking Abdul El-Sayed to denounce the Muslim Brotherhood despite no evidence existing to tie El-Sayed to the Muslim Brotherhood.

[App crapped out on me earlier, posting now] Which airlines are available basically depends on route/region, but mainly, I'd avoid those airlines that market themselves as "budget" airlines if you want to leave the experience with a good first impression of flying.

Good earplugs help some kids with flights (both the significant background noise and the altitude changes). Noise-cancelling headphones, like another commenter suggested, could also be a good choice. And making friends with the flight attendants never hurts.

Lobster¹ mushrooms² ¹ No crustaceans involved. The jury is out as to whether they taste like lobster, smell of lobster, or something completely different. ² Not so much a species of mushroom as any mushroom overtaken by a tasty red fungus. Might explain the divergent takes on the flavor.

Bummer. I suppose one could try convincing them it's a really nice spot for plopping down in a chair and having a lemonade? But especially if the city has generously provided a tree for shade? Such a pitch might not even require non-peer reviewed mind control technology to work. Maybe.

(Not that I've been bogposting for promotional purposes, mind you. The impetus for the story was essentially *wouldn't it be cool if this horrendous situation I imagine played out in a haunted bog?*. The output is entirely organic, in other words.)

Also, lmao @ this cover art. Incredible
The cover Hellarkey vol. 5, an annual Halloweenish and generally spooky anthology from Malarkey Books. Loads of text on the cover, including the heading "Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold; Mere hellarkey is loosed upon the world,"

The bulk of the remaining text is a spin-off of the Yeats poem The Second Coming.

For those who don't know, Ibn Khaldun was a globe-trotting medieval Arab scholar who identified numerous common fallacies in the study of history, had some whacky and many sensible ideas about geography, and was arguably a sociologist before sociology was a thing.

I've been a Dossouye fan since I got hands on Jessica Amanda Salmonson's AMAZONS! as a teenager, followed by SWORD & SORCERESS I-III. Dossouye strode off the page as one of the most believable women fighters and wanderers we were given. Her character, her tales--her war bull--were like nothing else.

Winding up for round two
A house panther sits upright on her haunches, atop a comparably black desk, as she looks out a sliding glass door/window setup. If one squints really hard, one can see some sort of winged bug on the glass, the object of her focus. (Said bug is on the opposite side of the window from said house panther, naturally.)
