In personal disability/chronic illness news, I walked my dog this evening for the first time in two (almost three?) months. Am I coming out of this crash? I am so hesitant to say.

Read Emily Wilson’s Burnt Mountain oceanside this morning. Seaside for my ailments. Have to say the sound is pretty regulating even though I spent yesterday in bed and was too exhausted to stay standing up against the waves today.

For all you other hEDS folks out there, TRUST YOURSELF. I subluxated my right shoulder in July. I felt my collarbone or top rib wasn’t in the right place after. All the imaging showed everything “normal.” Just saw my longtime & EDS-trained PT who immediately noticed it being in the wrong place.

Manuel Bandeira

My Last Poem

I would like my last poem thus

That it be gentle saying the simplest and least intended things
That it be ardent like a tearless sob
That it have the beauty of almost scentless flowers
The purity of the flame in which the most limpid diamonds
are consumed
The passion of suicides who kill themselves without explanation.

my wife has a friend who sent Dolly Parton a painting she made & a letter explaining how much Dolly's music meant to her while she was transitioning. Dolly responded to it personally & paid for her top surgery. Sounds like an urban legend but it's real. I think we're going to more stories like this.

We’re going to hear about how everyone loved Dolly, and that feels true. But it’s good to remember, and to her credit, that she was attacked for her AIDS activism, her vaccine advocacy, her LGBTQ+ support and even, more recently, for her reading initiatives. She ALWAYS stood firm when it mattered.
