I didn’t really understand my Dad’s version of happiness & success when I was younger. You grow up in a world defined by MORE, ambitions & career paths & ownership & status & wealth. You’re told working minimarts & renting = failure. I came to realize he was the most successful person I knew.

My Dad worked at urban markets his whole life. No career ambitions, he just liked the energy & routine working the sole register at a little shop. He has a rent freeze apartment he lived in til the day he died. Never wanted more. He found success & stopped there. In his era you could still do that.

The whole boomer argument against raising minimum wage I’ve heard my whole life is “working fast food or groceries is a starter job for kids.” Why? If someone is content bagging groceries, they should be able to just do that & enjoy their life. But the system doesn’t allow for opting out of “‘more.”

Omigod, this is the most heartwarming story possible! Backpack (bear 89) is the son of the 2019 winner of Fat Bear Week, Holly (bear 435). In 2007, he injured his foot & a practice of riding on momma's Holly's back had a new meaning: he was mobility-restricted while it healed. So Holly moved him.

He was the Clark Kent of pro wrestling. He looked like a completely different person in pictures outside of wrestling. The glasses, flat hair and some unassuming clothes that conceal his physique. I may have walked by him in public and never known. Then he'd turn into PAC and fly like Superman.

I now know of two wrestlers who have called Christian a "ring general": A.J Styles and Dory Funk Jr., Christian's WWE trainer. Two of the most respected wrestlers over the past 50+ years. That's pretty high praise. I'm sure there are more colleagues who share the same opinion. #wrestlesky

I would always joke that he looked like he walked directly from England to wherever he wrestled in the US right through the ocean like Godzilla, which was why he was always in gear and wet. Learning about some of the photoshoots he did, I wouldn't be surprised if that was actually the idea.
