Per the oncologist, it's likely chronic lymphatic leukemia. Slow moving and manageable. So my mom has leukemia, but the good news is that she'll have it for a long time. Life is weird.

I'm not vegetarian but I do love shelf stable protein and man, Textured Vegetable Protein fucks hard. The Milpas brand 'soya carne' is 50kcal, 10g protein and 5g fiber. I rehydrate it, add spice and throw it into whatever I can. Plus it's pretty cheap.

Its wild talking to my millennial friends about eating healthier and losing weight because holy shit, diet culture stuck with us so hard. No, you do have to eat more than 1200 calories. Don't crash diet. It's fine to eat before bed as long as you aren't binging. I ache for us.

Two years ago today, my husband was shot. It was an accident and he got incredibly lucky to have been shot in the thigh and not get his femoral artery nicked, but he was still shot by a family friend he knew from childhood with shitty trigger discipline. Every gun violence story since resonates.
