Old lefty, started getting a bit liberal. But beginning to think we may have to win all these battles again. It may be time to panic.

If the British right really believed in a meritocracy they would have been advocating for the removal of all public school educated adult from senior roles in the public and private sectors as well as academic roles in universities.

Could we ask the new Reform candidate for Clacton what has happened to the £5m “gift” from the Crypto billionaire? Will he give the money back? Also, can he explain why it is not bribery for him to accept gifts from a convicted fraudster?

Andy Burnham has a thing about buses. I like that. Buses are disproportionately used by those less wealthy and who are older. They are a great form of cohesion as well. Pensioners in English villages need regular buses to avoid isolation. He should lean into it. Roll out more services. Everywhere.

Amazing how the global tech giants want to avoid paying taxes or any restraint on their growth yet cheerfully hand responsibility for the consequences of their disruption to the state (whether it’s AI or social media) expecting the state to protect the millions affected without the funds to do so.

To be clear: deportations to increase cultural homogeneity is the text book definition of ethnic cleansing. Demands that come even close to this are so far outside any democratic norm and the rule of law. What has happened to a country when this is not condemned in the strongest possible terms?

Prime example of white privilege in plain sight. Black kids get called adults to justify blame, while white adults get called “kids” to excuse their hate. They’re not boys and girls, they’re grown-ass men and women, and the receipts are in writing.

Bear with me, I anticipate your disagreement. There is a clear pattern to the advice given to those who want to press back against rising racism. What it boils down to is that if you point out that racism is often being dressed up as “legitimate concerns” you will alienate people. /1

I grew up under apartheid. Went to university in its dying days. The apartheid state funded right wing students to provoke students and defend apartheid atrocities. Charlie Kirk’s behaviour and statement were right out of that playbook.
