My beef with Morrissey runs all the way back to 1986 when he said this about Black artists. Nineteen Eighty Six, while the Smiths were still active. It’s not a “later phenomenon” don’t try and lie to me www.standard.co.uk/culture/musi...
1986 — "Reggae, for example, is to me the most racist music in the entire world. It's an absolute total glorification of black supremacy... I don't have very cast iron opinions on black music other than black modern music which I detest. I detest Stevie Wonder. I think Diana Ross is awful. I hate all those records in the Top 40 - Janet Jackson, Whitney Houston. I think they're vile in the extreme... Obviously to get on Top Of The Pops these days, one has to be, by law, black," he told Melody Maker.

I have been watching international rugby for at least 30 years and I don’t think I have EVER seen players appear to be getting ready to jump a ref over a decision. I think that’s genuinely disgusting.

In this climate, wishing you 'all the best for your future career' feels like a passive aggressive sign-off. How about 'as an institution dedicated to research and educational excellence, we will do everything we can to support UK academia beyond our own hallowed halls', instead?

Ok, look, what's been particularly infuriating about the redundancies at Exeter (and Nottingham and Newcastle and and and) is this weird idea that it only affects those individuals and institutions. It harms us all because we are so closely interconnected.
