Tumblr user nocryptographer:
I talked with someone who works in book publishing, and they mentioned they get a lot of AI slop these days. I asked how they know what's human-written, and they said that there's one thing that will reveal AI slop without error, and that's the author not knowing their own creation.
A real author can talk about their story for hours. They love to elaborate every character, every twist, every detail. Because those existed in their head long before they ever made it to the paper. They were loved before they were written.
AI slop wasn't. It was just vomited into existence.
Someone who generates their story with AI will never bond with their story the way real writers do. That's why they may not know what to say when they're asked why did the character do this, or even remember the scene in the first place. It's something they read, not something they wrote. And to a writer, those are not the same.
There's a unique bond between the creator and the creation. If your writing doesn't come of you, you'll always lack that.
I keep hearing soon we won't be able to tell. And perhaps, in a superficial sense, that's true. But there is a difference. It's not em dashes or repeated words. It's whether the story was made by someone who loves it and cares about it.
If the writer's eyes light up when asked why did the character do that? and they start their very own Ted Talk about that specific scene...
then it's real.

The morphs in Keeper use distance fields as an (implicit) surface representation, which makes it possible to control the distance at which the surface should lie. In other words, it’s easy to deflate or inflate objects, and meshes become easily ‘moldable’.

The Evil Library. 🦉 📚 💀 ✨ 👻
Created in March 2017 for an unannounced game.

The spooky piano room with lots of books full of magic spells. A fireplace with a cozy armchair with pictures of ghostly landscapes on the wall. Candles and colorful lamps create a mysterious atmosphere.Created in March 2017 for an unannounced game.

Magic potions in various glass carafes and staffs were put in bookshelves. A treasure map and amulets show big plans. A desk with candles, quill, ink and a notebook show that someone is working hard on new enigmatic inventions.Created in March 2017 for an unannounced game.

We can see thunder outside the window. This is where magic, technology and chemistry are combined into a machine. Cables and parts are leading in various directions.

If you look at the last picture of this post with the library overview, you can also see an area where experiments are conducted, e.g. a spider will be transformed into a new creature.Created in March 2017 for an unannounced game.
https://www.deviantart.com/sylviaritter/art/Evil-Library-Concept-Art-672550674

The full library can be seen here. Next to the previous mentioned piano, poisons and machine room, we can see the main library with thousands of books protected by a wise owl "Boo hoo boo hoo!" and intricate skull decor.

Another part of the artwork shows the mirror room. Even the mirrors seem alive and love to spook around. Watch out! :) Taxidermied animals with glowing eyes can be found on the right side (lion, eagle, bear, rhino, hippo, warthog, bull, tiger). In a glass vitrine, precious animal skulls and bones are preserved.

In the upper right corner is a haunted dusty attic with spider webs, rusty tools and weapons ,a loom, old cloth, a still functioning gramophone, a forgotten coffin. Windows show the outside area with dead looking trees and a rather dark atmosphere.

..and then there is the ghostly maintenance staff room. Full of cleaning products, brooms, shovels, a warning sign for clean wet floors illuminated by a colder halogen light.

CEOs should be seen, but not heard. www.reddit.com/r/thefinals/...
However, user u/seezed was able to direct me towards more information about the process used at Embark buried away in a blog post the Chief Content Officer at Embark posted years ago.

The TL;DR would be, that it is a fairly innocuous toolkit built by Embark itself in 2020, that can get 3D point data from a 2D video scan and produce a model that the artists and the studio's internal tools can then clean up and process. Given that info, it is pretty safe to say it is not generative AI, and the Embark CEO is mostly just chest-beating and saying the AI buzzwords in recent interviews when referring to pretty innocuous existing game dev tools.
