A paper just dropped recently on some of the recovered Symes and Becchina frescoes, including some new ones that I I wasn't familiar with! One includes cavalrymen with montefortino helmets, with trident crests and plumes, and one of the shields includes a helmet with a transverse crest!

Pre-Roman Italy was, in fact, a really diverse place - I actually think that's part of why the Roman elite was so good at handling diverse subjects. They had to do so from a very early point, because the Latins didn't actually make up a big slice of peoples in ancient Italy. 11/

Worldbuilding is awesome when we base it on real-life, because there's camels in Egypt who swim out into the ocean & beaches there with ants & there are jellyfish who wash up. And then in history & archaeology we find vast trade networks with all kinds of different civilisations involved.
