Oh very nice! CSS Grid Lanes (aka Masonry) is enabled in Firefox Nightly (159) 😍 Wonder if this will "ride the trains" to the stable channel. Anyone know?
My computer screen, showing 2 Firefox windows, each one containing a different CSS Grid Lanes (aka Masonry) demo proving that the new layout system now works in Firefox. A third small window shows the About Firefox Nightly information, containing the version number 159.0a1.

After a long summer break, I'm continuing my blog post series on event sourcing, focusing on how to handle acceptance workflows: an employee makes a change that needs approval from, e.g. their manager. So we need to accept or reject events. www.planetgeek.ch/2026/09/28/e... #EventSourcing #fsharp

Sometimes you look at an old HTML document and see some weird tags and snippets from bygone eras. I've complied many legacy HTML bits I've noticed and documented what they were and why there were present. Many of them are rather obscure. Satisfy your curiosity: vale.rocks/posts/html-r...

A much needed companion to CSS Modules 💯 A stable TypeScript 7.1 is not yet out, though. I recall some prior art a long time ago, but nobody was able to do create something that stuck around because of the additional build step. This uses TypeScript's own upcoming content mapping feature.

Screenshot of a writing-analysis tool showing paragraphs of text with phrases highlighted in two shades of yellow, brown circular "3" badges, and a black tooltip overlaying the first line reading: "No X, no Y" chains · 3 "no" items. The visible text reads: We r[obscured by tooltip]nd up. No sign-ups, no downloads, no hassle (3) — just paste your text and start writing. Everything runs locally in your browser. The reviewer read the draft twice. Did not flinch, did not blink, did not reach for the red pen (3). That's the whole review, honestly. Don't call it a rewrite — call it a rescue. The improvement is real, and it's not subtle. That loss is worth naming. Sit with that for a moment. The gains were modest, but that's not nothing. You already know the answer, of course. Consistency is the entire game, and the punchline is that nobody wants to hear it. The entire pitch is one sentence long.

Summary
Persistent widgets are embedded browsing contexts, like iframes, but they can persist across same-origin navigations without reloading. Persistent widgets can be used via the <persistentwidget> HTML element. The <persistentwidget> HTML element takes a src attribute, like an iframe. In order to make the <persistentwidget> survive a navigation, all of these conditions must be met: 1. The navigation must be to a same-origin document. 2. The <persistentwidget> element must have the same src and id HTML attributes in both documents. 3. The <persistentwidget> element must be attached to the new document before its first render.

Recently implemented in Chrome are two of my top asks for CSS—the concept of rows in multiple-column layout, and gap decorations for rows and columns in grid, flexbox, and multicol.
