Trying out GH PR stacks, I’m up to 12 so far! It will make review much easier, but damn, it will have taken me 2 days to coherently stack my PRs. I’m also letting AI commit and create PRs for the 1st time, so I’ll have cleaning to do. I’ll learn stacks manually later 🤫 Stacks are a new paradigm 🤯

When discussing CSS, people use the term “vanilla CSS” to distance themselves from tech they don’t like. But what does that term mean? Every single one of us is preprocessing our CSS code, or did we forget? So what makes one build step ok, and another one not? Developer experience, I assume.

A much needed companion to CSS Modules 💯 A stable TypeScript 7.1 is not yet out, though. I recall some prior art a long time ago, but nobody was able to do create something that stuck around because of the additional build step. This uses TypeScript's own upcoming content mapping feature.

People still using OpenAI today — you do realize their product coached a teenager to commit suicide, right? Even when he no longer wanted to. OpenAI’s legal defense is that it’s against ToS to use ChatGPT to commit suicide. This is ALL I think about every time I see “coauthored by Codex”.

Watching a dark Korean drama… do you know how weird and refreshing it is to watch violence on TV without guns? People actually talk… a lot! Pulling out guns just shuts everyone up, it’s boooring 👎 USA doesn’t realize how profitable gun control could be for their TV.

I used to think that it could be useful to seek & destroy all unnecessary SVG fill-rule="evenodd" and clip-rule="evenodd", but just like with Tailwind these compress well — the more you have, the less impact they have. I had been risking breaking graphics to save tens of bytes 🙄

I kinda hate how trial is being portrayed on TV. Direct and cross-examination is intentionally portrayed wrong for dramatic effect, but it doesn't do it for me, I just get really agitated. I'm sure people can also make compelling TV by breathing some truth into the entire process.

This will cause `document.activeElement` to always point to your <form> element 🤯 You can override any document property or method this way. What about more common scenarios of naming your fields? Name attributes override form element's properties and methods the same way 🥲

This is a really good thread. Fetch API doesn’t feel good to me on the server, it was designed that way for the browser, and there is no reason for both to share the same API. Other than there being one less API to learn. But that’s not a good reason.

Eradicate explicit & implicit "any" and type assertions ("as") with oxlint. Below is my recipe. Don't try to fix initial violations, suppress all of them so that new code can benefit. Errors will finally get everyone to start narrowing types and validating response.json(), JSON.parse() etc.

There’s a React-related AI black hole whenever I’d like to run client side code ASAP, so it will recommend useEffect, which is the absolute LATEST time to run it. I assume this is because: - AI is trained mostly on SPAs - it doesn’t consider whether the code needs DOM to be ready or not
