Credit where it's due. Frontier tops the airline benchmark, and has trimmed LCP from 3.29s to 2.60s over 9 months. Small, steady wins. Ryanair has been quietly shipping perf improvements since I wrote about their redesign in 2015. A decade of discipline.

For reusable components: has anyone stress tested the seams around Light versus Shadow DOM? Hypothetically: 20 light DOM nodes per instance versus 1 light DOM node (with 19 shadow DOM nodes) per instance. 40 vs. 1+39? and instances? I don’t think I have a baseline intuition on the costs there.

While working on a project, I paused a bit to style an icon + text. When the text is short, the icon is vertically centered. If the text wraps, the icon is aligned with the first line. ishadeed.com/article/alig... This is a result of using lh, aspect-ratio, height: auto, flexbox and more.
