"Muslim community fears more mass shootings if gun laws rolled back". The headline says it all. As we remember the 51 innocent people who were murdered in Christchurch, we should also reflect on why our gun laws were changed and why we don't want a roll back. www.rnz.co.nz/news/nationa...

The powerful imagine “free speech” as a right where they are free to vilify/harass marginalised people (women, migrants, LGBT folk, etc) while those who endure their abuse are driven to censor themselves or leave the platform to avoid abuse. This isn’t free speech — it’s domination by the powerful.

A better formulation would be that it is hard to explain to Māori tamariki how colonisers stole their land, interrupted their way of life, and disrespected their tikanga when political representatives continue to present white settler colonialism's violence as civilised behaviour.

Can I share this map? basically they are named differently based on the region/language - we have lot of local regional languages and they all create amazing movies - similarly movies coming out of pakistan. bangladesh and sri lanka as well. Source in Alt.
Map showing different movie industries in the subcontinent based on language and region. some have similar names, but more often than not one of the two is more famous - like mollywood for malayalam movies and tollywood for telegu fiilm industry.

Maybe the only real reason peace has come on the heels of war in the past, is that it reduced the number of male voters? This isn’t flippant. But a question about whether the lessons of the 20th C are still relevant in modern times of gender ‘equity’.

Every single political reporter should be slamming Seymour to renounce this and challenge his appearance on Plunkett's show. This is somewhat more beyond the pale than what we've seen in NZ recently. It's alongside attacks on muslims, and on LGBTQI+ by literal neo-nazis.
