An incremental solution that's vulnerable to SCOTUS ruling it unconstitutional. There is no reform without first unpacking.

I prefer the incremental solution that can be implemented through bare-majority legislation (240 Supreme Court justices) to Third Way's radical plan, which requires fully amending the Constitution (term limits)

Polarization is a problem to the extent that negative partisanship drives some people who would not otherwise support fascists to support fascists. Other than that, yeah. Not the problem.

The transition I'm calling for would, if it works, also splinter the Democratic party. But in a two-party system, where both parties are aggregated multiparty coalitions, you would expect some "reaching across the aisle." Are we talking about a handful of "center-right" Ds or something else?

The Senate is also a problem. But a PR House is probably the best we can do without an amendment, so it's a first step.

Is multiparty democracy is a panacea? No. Can it be designed in ways that make it worse than two-party democracy? Yes. Is our current system preventing a fascist government from destroying the country? No. That's all you need to know.

You can't have democracy in a two-party system in which one party is captured by white-nationalist authoritarians.

U.S. politics are better with MAGA getting a 32% vote share in a PR House than a MAGA-controlled Republican party getting 46–54% vote share in an FPTP system.

Hegseth is a great example of a common type of officer who's ended up in charge of something, doesn't have a clue how to do the job, and just falls back on PT, grooming, slogans, and searching for scapegoats. If you put him in charge of a Cinnabon he would do the exact same things.

There is a lot of "oh dear" to go around in the results of this very thorough Pew study on the issues with synthetic samples, but this strikes me as particularly "oh dear" www.pewresearch.org/data-labs/20...
AI polling results can lean on racial or partisan stereotypes

In many cases, our AI poll took beliefs or attitudes that are reasonably common among a particular subgroup and portrayed them as nearly ubiquitous. For example, our AI poll would indicate that:

97% of Hispanic adults are at least somewhat likely to follow the World Cup (while the actual share is 43%).

Maybe, just maybe, the advantage lies in pro-authoritarian "editorial policy" at the major social-media networks... Regardless, "open media" can't explain it because countries like 🇷🇺 developed their current repertoire to deal with their lack of control over domestic digital telecoms.

One of these things is not like the other, one of these things is doing its own thing, now it's time to play our game - it's time to play our game!
Administrations of both parties have used public service announcements to explain policy and make the case for the nation’s direction:
The G.W. Bush Administration ran a national television campaign explaining the Medicare Prescription Drug, Improvement, and Modernization Act to seniors. It also bought Super Bowl airtime for anti-drug and anti-terrorism public service announcements.
The Obama Administration used national advertising to promote Obamacare subsidies and open enrollment, and a digital campaign to sell its Waters of the United States rule.
The Biden Administration poured hundreds of millions of dollars into “We Can Do This” — television, digital, radio, and print spots — to drive a nationwide public health message.
It’s not just modern Administrations. President Woodrow Wilson’s Committee on Public Information used posters, films, and speakers to rally the country. President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s Office of War Information produced films, radio, and posters to promote the war effort.
