About 10, 15 years ago these people started the “was Hitler really so bad? Hitler only wanted what was best for the Germans, what’s wrong with that!?” talking point and I knew I would live to see it become the mainstream GOP position. The end of living memory of WWII is going to be ruinous.

4-panel SMBC comic update. Two women are birdwatching, one marvels at a white bird standing on a rock, saying "oh my gosh, look, a Shitepoke!' The same woman is delighted as she sees other birds saying "what a charming Arsefoot! look sally, a Windfucker! Go fuck that wind, little Windfucker!" The woman birding with her says "okay fine, you can go back to scientific nomenclature and I won’t complain." The first woman replies "it is too late. The change is complete."

The NYT is ok with extremist ideology as an anecdote in a profile—but highly allergic to any deeper examination of the ideology itself. No one gets to write an op-ed explaining any of this. That’s not allowed. But a billionaire can drop it in a quote as a passing comment.

If Catholic intellects are still in denial, an even worse fascist regime can emerge. They need to come to terms with the damage their Catholic SCOTUS Justices and lawyers have done to our rule of law, all in the name of anti-Democratic religion. Russ Vought is not an outlier.
