Popped up to Carsington (again) this afternoon for the Spotted Redshank that arrived at lunchtime. A nice Pink-barred Sallow was in the area. Never common in these parts, and only my 2nd this year. #TeamMoth

Full morning at Willington GP for the annual @derbyshirebirds.bsky.social guided walk included 2 Garganey, Green Sandpiper, 3 Ruff, Marsh Harrier, great views of a Hobby hawking for dragonflies and 3 Grey Wagtails. Clouded Yellow was a lifer for 2 members.

Went to Carsington yesterday afternoon to look for the Pec Sand from the night before. It was very distant but another wader joined it & then both spooked by a Hobby. Jon & I stuck with them & after much scrutiny in various places it became clear there were two! @derbyshirebirds.bsky.social

If you build it they will come - some fab news from High Leas, Barn Owls have bred successfully for this 1st time in years. The vole rich grassland is ideal for these birds but with support from @derbyswildlife.bsky.social & others a 2 well sited boxes did the trick. @derbyperegrines.bsky.social
