Bonaparte's Gulls. The 1st pic was a lifer in 2019. Oare Marshes returning bird in summer plumage. Very grateful that someone pointed it out to me. Pic 2 & 3 are the same bird on Sept 3rd '26. Got straight on it, affirming learning 🙏 The bottom pic is a county first beaut in May 2021 🪶
Several pictures of a small to medium sized gull in different plumages. In both wetland & beach settings.

Spurn wasn't likely to be birdy with westerlies, but jamming Western Bonelli's y'day kept me hopeful. In the end, twas a day of enjoying time with birds & people. Best was sea watching: vis mig, late Swift, Arctic Skuas, Manxies, Terns, 1st Common Gull of autumn. Grey Plovers, Blackwits & a Sprawk 🪶

lewishampeoplesassembly on Instagram: "You’ve probably heard the campaign’s issues with the unaffordability of housing in the #lewisham Shopping Centre redevelopment plan…"
You’ve probably heard the campaign’s issues with the unaffordability of housing in the #lewisham Shopping Centre redevelopment plans. But besides the price, it’s important to look at what type of homes they are and who could live there. The 2011 census found that over 12% of Lewisham families were overcrowded, and a 2021 housing allocations review reported over 5,000 families on the housing register lived in overcrowded conditions. This disproportionately impacts racialised people and single parents with children. Overcrowding can impact children’s school attendance and performance, strain family relationships, and cause anxiety, stress, and #depression So it’s not just the cost of housing - it’s how many bedrooms are in each home, and whether or not Lewisham can be a place where families can thrive. But for the past 20 years, Lewisham Council has consistently approved planning permissions for studios, 1- and 2-bedrooms homes. Now, over 60% of homes in Lewisham have two bedrooms or less.Only 9% of Landsec’s 1700 new homes at the Lewisham Shopping Centre will have 3 or 4 bedrooms; everything else, including the student and co-living, has 2 bedrooms or less. So Landsec’s plans are even worse than Lewisham’s already-poor record for families. Building housing for childless, middle-class young professionals risks furthering the churn of families out of Lewisham and worsening #overcrowding

From @robcrank68.bsky.social today's #BirdOfTheDay main theme is a tough one with #OneTwoThreeFour, 4 photos with 1, 2, 3, 4 birds, with each photo being the same bird/s. The Alt theme is #ForJanet, any of the Robin Species will do. I have chosen an American Robin's nest at various stages. #robins
An American Robin is sitting in a nest built on top of a black rain gutter attached to the side of a house. The nest is made of twigs and grass and rests just under the roof’s edge. The robin’s orange breast and dark head are visible as it sits low in the nest. The house siding is white, with a section of brick at the corner. Two American Robin chicks in a nest built on top of a black rain gutter at the corner of a house. The young birds have brown and orange plumage and a pale beaks. One is standing up while the other in sitting in the nest. The nest, made of twigs and grass, sits just under the roof eaves. The house siding is white, with a strip of brick along the corner.Three American Robins are perched on a black rain gutter at the corner of a house. One robin is standing on the gutter with food in its beak, leaning toward the chick with its beak wide open. The second chick is facing the nest which is sitting low in a nest made of twigs and grass. The nest sits just under the roof eave, with white siding and a section of brick forming the background. An adult American Robin is perched on a black rain gutter under the eaves of a house. Beside it is a nest made of twigs and grass, holding three baby robins. The nest sits at the corner where the gutter meets the siding.
