I was in two minds whether to trap tonight. It felt chilly with some rain. The few times I checked, I said to myself, "Yeah, maybe I shouldn't have bothered." However, I looked on a nearby chair where a Brimstone just landed. But, a few inches away was this beauty. A first for the garden #teammoth

It’s official, the 2026 El Niño has broken a record for the highest ocean anomaly in 170+ years… Incredibly reaching that threshold a full 2 months ahead of 2015’s record of +3.02C set on Nov 18th. See that red line? That’s 2026. Every other bold line are the strongest El Niño’s on record. 1/

Whilst trapping at Kedleston Hall NT last night, this incredible looking bug was found in one of the traps. Native to the United States, it was introduced to Great Britain in the 1930s. I give you the Rhododendron leafhopper #teammoth #notamoth

Having been away for over a week, it was back to trapping in my Belper garden. And what a welcome back it was with my first ever Scarce Bordered Straw. Clinging to the underside of an egg box, i almost overlooked it. A very welcome surprise #teammoth

Do any of my mothing chums reside & trap near Cornwall's west coast? We're heading down to St Agnes on Saturday, & obviously, the actinic is coming along. Just wondering what trapping has been like there of late, & is there anything I could expect that I wouldn't get here in Derbyshire #teammoth

I don't often post non moth stuff, but the reason for me being quiet on here for a few days is because yesterday this happened. We've been together for 27 years, and we thought it was about time. First photo is me and my now wife Karen, and our 2 children, Harry and Sarah
