When have mobs of masked men ever brought anything but fear and violence. Really never thought I’d see this in Britain and I don’t think many people want it. So crack down for God’s sake, use the power of the state! Imagine they are environmentalists or something

Absolutely this - not just for calculus but for everything! Education is about ways of thinking, ways of seeing, ways of communicating ideas. ‘Computers can do this now so we don’t have to’ is the most reductive and dangerous thought we can have.

Brilliant action by Greenpeace. Neil Whitney, a fisherman from Newhaven: “Big industrial fishing boats can catch more in one day than I can catch all year. They’re able to take out entire ecosystems, and if they cause a fishery to collapse, they just move on to the next one."

Men who commit this kind of violence with this kind of rhetoric are not protecting women and girls; they are trying to legislate which men have the right to harm women and girls (and of course it's men like them and not those other men).

The fact that humans are spending national GDP sums of money so we can surrender our thinking to a machine that doesn’t understand truth, reality or morals, hoovers up resources and destroys the environment, even as the climate crisis threatens to end our civilization, is undermining my sanity.

Agreed, if a party has a candidate that resigns within 30 days of winning a local election then their party should be fined the cost of running the by-election to replace them. They put up the candidates so they should bear the responsibility if they aren't serious about the role.
