There have been strong words of support for Palestine and protestors from Ed Miliband and the Labour govt. On arms, he has said the UK is not supplying bombs or bullets. A Channel 4 investigation found that the UK had supplied 110,000 bullets to Israel as well as £400k worth bomb and missile parts.

Many will look at Zia Yusuf as doing the racists work for them and clearly racist. For many of us this will show how entrenched racism has become. Yusuf probably thinks his racism will reward him. He understands more than most, the political currency it provides. Racism is no longer on the fringe.

Musk shared a free download to a film on X that promotes attacking migrants and portrays them as rapists. One Muslim family of a perpetrator are murdered. A few weeks ago we saw pogroms on our streets. Imagine if I promoted a film that attacked Jews or Christians? Why is he allowed to do this?

For months now fellow Muslims have talked to me about leaving the UK. One professional Muslim mother asked me “will they really make us leave, Adil?” Many don’t know who is going to help them? Who? Yes racists win, but one’s safety matters more when faced with pogroms. That many simply call unrest.

Sir Christopher Wren (born in 1632), an acclaimed English architect, wrote in the 1700s: “Modern gothic… from all the marks of the new architecture, it can only be attributed to the Moors; or what is the same thing, to the Arabians or Saracens”.

Saracen was a derogatory term used for Muslims at this time, and even to this day. Its original Arabic meaning is linked to the word “to steal”, and was supposed to reference Muslims as thieves and looters.

Diana Darke, author of ‘Stealing from the Saracens: How Islamic Architecture Shaped Europe’ writes extensively about the origins of Gothic architecture in Europe and the western world, in her book. She says in an interview with the Guardian: “Against a backdrop of rising Islamophobia, I thought it was about time someone straightened out the narrative.”

Hey Doc. Not sure that has anything to do with the prayers last week. As for “cloth bags”. Many women choose to do so and that is their right. Very similar to Nuns. Many women who cover up feel it’s their right and independence to decide who sees them and their bodies.

As far back as I can remember Iftar is always about sharing. Including with non Muslims. Many Muslims will send food to their neighbours. It’s almost a duty. And there is a story about Prophet Muhammad accepting a lamb dish from a Jewish lady when he encouraged open sharing.

If Muslims praying to Allah, the Arabic word for the same God for Jews and Christians, is that “domination”? Muslims recognise their closeness to these faiths as believers in God. Islam, has differences but is seen as a continuation of those faiths. And the Quran states there is no compulsion.
