White nationalist immigration policy is not just shameful & anti-American, and trashes the Republican tradition of Reagan+Bush who fought for the opposite. It is also illegal. Our bipartisan 1965 Immigration & Nationality Act explicitly banned race preferences—> www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/...

My family and I, and the entire Japanese American community on the West Coast, were denied due process during our internment in WWII. It is a cherished, critical right for all people within the U.S.’s borders.
Screenshot of a tweet by Aaron Reichlin-Melnick criticizing a government official’s claim that due process should be ignored in immigration enforcement. The tweet argues that due process applies to everyone and is enshrined twice in the U.S. Constitution. Below it is a quoted tweet referencing a statement attributed to Stephen Miller about deportations, alongside a video still of a man speaking at a podium outdoors.

The US government is engaged in a policy program of mass exclusion. It is not a ‘crackdown’—which means strict enforcement against lawbreakers. It seeks to exclude refugees, students, and family members immigrating lawfully, and to exclude US citizens smeared as undesirable. Not a ‘crackdown’.

Selecting US immigrants based on their race, or on their (Left or Right) political views, is illegal and a betrayal. Our refugee program is an expression of our humanitarian values and, for many sponsors, a profound expression of their faith. It is not a plaything for ethno-nationalist extremists.

You can't teach U.S. history without "divisive" narratives. Slavery wasn't "unifying." The Japanese incarceration wasn't "unifying." The anti-immigrant Operation Wetback (real name) wasn't "unifying." It's history's job to tell the truth, not cover up past racism to pave the way for future racism.
