Older but not necessarily wiser. Phil Thompson nearly ran me over and Sammy Lee told me I look like Eric Clapton. Not sure which was worse. Once complimented on my beard by Jeremy Corbyn. Would put cauliflower and Mick Hucknall into Room 101.

Happy Birthday Swap Shop. Here's John Craven signing SS Book 3, for the 3 year old me.

My ex brother in law is a City fan, and *not* one of the sound ones. I've no idea what he makes of it all because we blocked each other, pretty much everywhere, years ago. But I do hope he's having a lovely week.

Someone on a work call has just asked me what scampi fries are, and I'm honestly not listening to anything else they're saying now for wondering what else is a mystery to them.

If they'd found so much as a packet of sparklers in any of those vans, those lads would be getting held for 14 days. The fact that they were out within 48 hours of arrest means there likely wasn't sufficient evidence to persuade a judge they were terrorists.

I want my country back. By that, I mean a country where I would be confident that a thug who livestreamed himself stabbing an RNLI dingy on an active operation would a) Be universally condemned b) Be swiftly arrested, put on trial and if found guilty, face many years in jail. I miss that country.

Still patiently waiting to be "left behind" by AI rather than it chasing me across every damn space like a slasher in a low budget flick.

I'm now officially of the age that it feels like every time I look at any of my old school groups on Facebook, the latest post is usually one announcing that one of my old teachers has just died.

The perils of coaching a football team. Still thinking so much about our game this morning, that I barely took any notice of the Liverpool Bournemouth game. Couldn't even tell you which players were on the pitch at FT.

Saw 30 seconds of 'Sharpe' while flicking through the channels for something to watch, and he didn't say 'bastard' once. Must have been an edited version.

It's going to take years, but this is the best way to destroy ai. They'll fight it all the way to the end, but unless there's a massive reevaluation of fair use/copyright laws, I don't see them winning this. I just hope creators don't back down. And if they do, it's All Over. Seriously.

Interesting observation in the Classic Pop review of the new Proclaimers album, given their recent trans quotes.
The only real misstep is the dubious title track, in which the Reids - like a couple of embarrassing uncles ranting on Facebook - stray uncomfortably into "you can't say anything these days" territory.
Well, what is it that you want to say, lads? And why? It's doubtful that even they know, as the message is confused, and it mars an album that otherwise finds their hearts firmly in the right place.

I refuse to believe that major stadium venues would have cancelled their Ed Sheeran concerts rather than allow Macklemore on the bill. There was an opportunity for Sheeran to use his commercial weight to force the issue, and he folded immediately.

Only heard a few Macklemore songs. Not really my thing, but not bad. Seems like a top lad though. Sheeran's probably had better days.

Tried to read the T&Cs on some gig tickets and now feel like the kid in Mallrats who can't see the boat in the Magic Eye picture.
Screenshot of the T&Cs page after buying tickets for The Wildhearts in December. An absolute mess of blue and red with writing on it that is virtually impossible to read against the background.

Bill Bryson on the RNLI in "The Road to Little Dribbling : more notes from a small island" (2015)
I had never really stopped to consider what an extraordinary thing the Royal National Lifeboat Institution is. Think about it. A troubled ship calls for help, and eight people - teachers, plumbers, the guy
who runs the pub - drop everything and put to sea, whatever the weather, asking no questions, imperilling their own lives, to try to help strangers. Is there anything more brave and noble than that? The RNLI - I looked this up later - is an organization run by volunteers, supported entirely by public donations. It maintains 233 stations around the coast of Britain and averages twenty-two call-outs per day. It saves 350 lives a year on average.

Got up this morning with best intentions of going out to the shop when they opened, getting all the stuff for Sunday roast, etc. I now find myself sat in front of Sky Sports with a coffee in hand and still wearing the same shorts and tshirt I slept in last night. Cheese on toast for dinner, then.

I fear that they haven't thought this through when it comes to the confusion and distress it will cause. "While you're at the shop, can you pick up that new cookbook for me please? The one with the lemons on the front." "Yes dear." *Later* "Here you go dear" *Opens it* "Oh my word..."
Two books on the shelves at Sainsburys.
"Simple Too" by Yotam Ottolenghi has lemons on the front and is a recipe book.
"More", compiled by Gillian Anderson, also has lemons on the front but is most definitely not a recipe book.

It should be legal as a pedestrian to slash the tyres of any vehicle that stops over a crossing and makes it unusable. I realise that this is counter productive when it comes to them moving off again, but in the moment, my God it would be satisfying.

You’ve gotta use AI because it’s the future. But also it’ll take your job. But also it’ll create a paradise on earth and solve most of our problems. But also it’ll end humanity soon. But also you’ll get left behind if you don’t use it right now.
