Older but not necessarily wiser. Phil Thompson nearly ran me over and Sammy Lee told me I look like Eric Clapton. Not sure which was worse. Once complimented on my beard by Jeremy Corbyn. Would put cauliflower and Mick Hucknall into Room 101.

A fair report. Played lots of good stuff but mostly ground to a halt when it got to the edge of the box.

I only remember it with the horse. Is that why I've always thought it was shit, and it amazes me when people speak highly of it?

Happy Birthday Swap Shop. Here's John Craven signing SS Book 3, for the 3 year old me.

I've used it - reluctantly - for the first time this week. A bit of my soul died, but I just didn't have the week it would've taken me to trawl through all of the info line by line. To listen to some people though, they definitely see it as a lazy bastards charter.

Didn't watch it, purely because she was on it. Can't afford the new telly that we'd end up needing when I threw something at it.

Went to my first games in 85/86 and it's the first season I properly remember. Listened to both parts of this tonight and it's absolutely superb. Brilliant stuff.

My ex brother in law is a City fan, and *not* one of the sound ones. I've no idea what he makes of it all because we blocked each other, pretty much everywhere, years ago. But I do hope he's having a lovely week.

Someone on a work call has just asked me what scampi fries are, and I'm honestly not listening to anything else they're saying now for wondering what else is a mystery to them.

If they'd found so much as a packet of sparklers in any of those vans, those lads would be getting held for 14 days. The fact that they were out within 48 hours of arrest means there likely wasn't sufficient evidence to persuade a judge they were terrorists.

I want my country back. By that, I mean a country where I would be confident that a thug who livestreamed himself stabbing an RNLI dingy on an active operation would a) Be universally condemned b) Be swiftly arrested, put on trial and if found guilty, face many years in jail. I miss that country.

The perils of coaching a football team. Still thinking so much about our game this morning, that I barely took any notice of the Liverpool Bournemouth game. Couldn't even tell you which players were on the pitch at FT.

It's going to take years, but this is the best way to destroy ai. They'll fight it all the way to the end, but unless there's a massive reevaluation of fair use/copyright laws, I don't see them winning this. I just hope creators don't back down. And if they do, it's All Over. Seriously.

Interesting observation in the Classic Pop review of the new Proclaimers album, given their recent trans quotes.
The only real misstep is the dubious title track, in which the Reids - like a couple of embarrassing uncles ranting on Facebook - stray uncomfortably into "you can't say anything these days" territory.
Well, what is it that you want to say, lads? And why? It's doubtful that even they know, as the message is confused, and it mars an album that otherwise finds their hearts firmly in the right place.

Used to work in an office that had an incredibly strict eating at desks policy. This was eventually relaxed, and one halfwit marked the occasion by going out and getting a massive doner and chips, which he brought back and started scoffing at his desk. And this is why we can't have nice things.

Tried to read the T&Cs on some gig tickets and now feel like the kid in Mallrats who can't see the boat in the Magic Eye picture.
Screenshot of the T&Cs page after buying tickets for The Wildhearts in December. An absolute mess of blue and red with writing on it that is virtually impossible to read against the background.

Bill Bryson on the RNLI in "The Road to Little Dribbling : more notes from a small island" (2015)
I had never really stopped to consider what an extraordinary thing the Royal National Lifeboat Institution is. Think about it. A troubled ship calls for help, and eight people - teachers, plumbers, the guy
who runs the pub - drop everything and put to sea, whatever the weather, asking no questions, imperilling their own lives, to try to help strangers. Is there anything more brave and noble than that? The RNLI - I looked this up later - is an organization run by volunteers, supported entirely by public donations. It maintains 233 stations around the coast of Britain and averages twenty-two call-outs per day. It saves 350 lives a year on average.
