Earnings estimates really jumping on the refiners as diesel and jet fuel both at new highs and crack spreads exploding. Valero is now expected to make $48.58 in 2026, up from $41.95 just 7 days ago. 3 estimates raised in the last week. Analysts can't keep up. $VLO

The higher education participation rate for UK born Bangladeshi women went from around 2% (not a typo) in 1983 to nearly 67% in 2025 This must be one of the most dramatic, fast social changes in recent British history, and one that is barely noted or understood

Two papers by Max Planck, the legendary Nobel laureate in physics, were retracted by Springer Nature in 2011, likely due to an algorithm flagging the papers for self-plagiarism and copyright infringement. Read on for how stupid it all is. 🧪

Springer Nature has removed two studies by Max Planck. A bot may be to blame

I would caution anyone not to read too much into Gorton and Denton - which hasn’t returned a right wing MP since the 1920s - but what it does show is this: * Tactical voting works. * Labour are nowhere near as under water as predicted. * Reform expected to do much better.

Absolutely amazing chart from @peterkellner.bsky.social's piece in @thenewworldmag.bsky.social today: www.thenewworld.co.uk/peter-kellne...
A flow chart shows 17.4 million leave voters in 2016, vs 16.1m remain. In 2025, 5 million of those people have died, and 3 million new voters have come of age.

The result (plus some people changing their mind) is 19.8 million voters now back rejoin, versus just 11.7 million wanting to stay out.
