Garrosh Hellscream was orange, became a despotic and unhinged leader with vindictive nationalist tendencies, and hailed from the Mag'har (sounds like MAGA). Coincidence??? I think not.

A lot of ghost stories during spooky season end up being about like a dead grandma watching over her grandkids or something and I've never understood why it's supposed to be spooky? Like, good for her, don't let death tell you what to do.

Every single "if Lin-Manuel Miranda wrote X" meme I've ever seen has been immensely cringe, like no, that's not what he would've written, because he's better at writing songs than you, you are incapable of writing the song he would've written

Many people think this but it's not true! Data centers are a small rounding error compared to agriculture. And it pains me that this is the case as a golf hater but golf no longer consumes meaningful amounts of water as most courses in the southwest have switched to graywater irrigation

There is a better way. We are starting a unit of Outdoor Service Guides (outdoorserviceguides.org), and we will get kids outdoors and learning without the institutional wealth, government control, and military bearing of Scouting America. If you care about scouting, you should get involved too!

We can do better! We must do better! Nature is for everyone, woodcraft is for everyone, and so Scouting MUST finally be for everyone. It is long past time to shed the exclusionary culture Scouting America embraced throughout the 20th century. They can no longer be the default of scouting in the US.

Last year, I was Cubmaster of one of our state's largest Cub Scout packs. When Scouting America (formerly Boy Scouts of America) made an agreement with the Pentagon to prioritize the comfort of military families over the inclusion of diverse families, I realized I had to resign.

Scouting America has removed inclusive spaces from the National Jamboree after pressure from the Pentagon. There's a better way! We are starting up an explicitly and enthusiastically inclusive Scouting program in Rolesville, NC with no ties to the government and all the great Scout lessons! 🧵

It's always seemed completely bonkers to me that you can just go out and buy chlorine bleach, no questions asked. One of the strongest practical oxidizers, and it's just there on the shelf. I think if it was invented today it would be for licensed users only.

This concept was introduced to me as "run the dishwasher twice" and was an important part of my executive functioning recovery as well as my path to self-acceptance.
When I was at one of my lowest (mental) points in life, I couldn't get out of bed some days. I had no energy or motivation and was barely getting by.

I had therapy once per week, and on this particular week I didn't have much to 'bring' to the session. He asked how my week was and I really had nothing to say.

'What are you struggling with?' he asked.

I gestured around me and said 'I dunno man. Life.'

Not satisfied with my answer, he said 'No, what exactly are you worried about right now? What feels overwhelming? When you go home after this session, what issue will be staring at you?'

I knew the answer, but it was so ridiculous that I didn't want to say it. I wanted to have something more substantial.
Something more profound.

But I didn't.

So I told him, 'Honestly? The dishes. It's stupid, I know, but the more I look at them the more I CAN'T do them because I'll have to scrub them before I put them in the dishwasher, because the dishwasher sucks, and I just can't stand and scrub the dishes.'

I felt like an idiot even saying it.

What kind of grown ass woman is undone by a stack of dishes? There are people out there with *actual* problems, and I'm whining to my therapist about dishes?

But he nodded in understanding and then said:

'RUN THE DISHWASHER TWICE.'I began to tell him that you're not supposed to, but he stopped me.

'Why the hell aren't you supposed to? If you don't want to scrub the dishes and your dishwasher sucks, run it twice. Run it three times, who cares?! Rules do not exist.'

It blew my mind in a way that I don't think I can properly express.

That day, I went home and tossed my smelly dishes haphazardly into the dishwasher and ran it three times.

I felt like I had conquered a dragon.

The next day, I took a shower lying down.

A few days later. I folded my laundry and put them wherever the fuck they fit.

There were no longer arbitrary rules I had to follow, and it gave me the freedom to make accomplishments again.

Now that I'm in a healthier place, I rinse off my dishes and put them in the dishwasher properly. I shower standing up. I sort my laundry.

But at a time when living was a struggle instead of a blessing, I learned an incredibly important lesson:

THERE ARE NO RULES. RUN THE DISHWASHER TWICE!!!"

My younger daughter doesn't want to do anything at Colonial Williamsburg so we've been sitting on a bench for like 45 minutes. There are lots of people out on the street, but it's overall pretty relaxing. Cities aren't loud. Cars are loud. That pisses me off and I'm hopeful EVs finally solve that.

My 7 AM flight was cancelled so I spent all day in MSP. While I was in the restroom once there were two men in separate stalls. As I was washing my hands, after no one had said anything, one bursts out "haha we're striking gold here, man".
