!!! Wow. I had the honor of meeting Immanuel when he was maybe 12? and sitting in with an adult big band rehearsal in Philly and holding his own. Somehow it didn't surprise me with the energy he put off even then and while I'm thrilled at this award, I'm still happily not surprised. The REAL DEAL.

43 years old today. Recovering from a cold, but in high spirits. I can happily say I am super rich in all the things money can't buy! Family, community, music, All totally great. I feel blessed. And I wouldn't say no to some more $$$ though how to do it without sacrificing the some of those...

This sucks and as a musician it sounds all too believable. I'd love to see a roundup. While I know some institutions (Big 5 Orchestras, Broadway) have seen pay increases, I also have plenty of personal anecdotal evidence that gig fees and stuff have stayed stagnant since the early 90s. That's hard!
