Thanks to some incredible generosity from people here, I passed the £2k mark today, which occasioned a congratulatory phone call and a nice Facebook comment from the Ovarian Cancer Action people. Their focus is research, and this is the kind of thing it will help with.
And a HUGE congratulations on raising an incredible £2,022 already, absolutely phenomenal! To put your amazing fundraising into perspective,
£500 could fund an MSc or PhD
student who may make a breakthrough with this disease for just under a week at the Ovarian Cancer Action Research Centre

The one I like is the idea that the state pension should be means tested. We already do that in the most efficient way the state has ever found: Income Tax. People really do seem to think pensioners pay no tax at all 🤷🏻‍♂️

'Sunshine, Drawing Room.' (1905) Vilhelm Hammershøi’s interiors are his most popular pictures, and they have defined public perception of his achievements as an artist. Although he was working in the era of Picasso, Matisse and Duchamp, he has more in common with Vermeer.

Views into a railway carriage used by PT Barnum, and later Buffalo Bill, for his tour of Wales - curling layers of fractured paint; ageing wooden floorboards; traces of patterned wallpaper from its later life as a domestic dwelling. A compelling relic, and a prompt to a thousand reveries.

The carriage has layers of white and mint green paint, and a broad strip of patterned wallpaper perhaps suggestive of 1950s stylesA view through a narrow door way at one end of the carriage, looking along the inside.
