Very grateful to have a few poems (including this one, loosely inspired by nature's reclamation of the Chernobyl exclusion zone) in the new issue of @conduit.org, one of the best.... Do yourself a favor & waltz over to grab yourself a copy, (costs the same as a cocktail, but the buzz lasts longer)!
MOST GHOSTS

don't believe in people, either.
They hold parties
in abandoned gymnasiums
where sapling maples
split the hardwood
flooring to reach
toward the white glow
dissolving through the skylights.
All the people left
town decades ago
when ash fell from the sky.
If you leave the gymnasium
and walk weed-shattered
asphalt lanes, you will
eventually come to a bungalow
inhabited by a bear.
She tumbles in and out
where the picture
window used to be.
If you were there,
you might liken the opening
to the dark socket
in the skull of a Cyclops.
She doesn't mind ghosts,
in fact she considers them
a sort of cousin, given
to flourishing in our absence.

on this #twopageplustuesday & last day of June, here’s a poem by Kenneth O. Hanson
End of the Month Report
I have washed the windows
I have signed the checks I have arranged the books according to the six principles in my head
I have found my poems in a new anthology cheek by jowl with Robert Lowell
I have taken this into account
I have bought the beer for today
I have reread the material on the Industrial Revolution for Monday
I have read the student papers
1am pledged to read
I have put my life in order
Why then do the bits and pieces of another landscape
fragments of a great despair gather in a sidestreet with obscene gestures chanting fuck your order long live doubt
long live the paramýthy of the heart the storm and stress of the bounced check the pure disinclination of the who knows what the shipwreck always
of the uncertainty at the door long live the domestic tranquility of chaosthe rocks and water of negative capability the raw discrimination of the checks and balances
O burn the papers, put the books again in the damp basement Christopher Smart molding
alongside the Cat Man of Katmandu cheek by jowl with Lady Winchilsea O to be merely clever like the students of Salonika who believe in nothing but themselves or their uncles, which in this case is something to believe in O to have antecedents without thinking them up to have only lies to contend with the indiscriminate sun
in a plastic bag and the yellow wine more clear than a washed window week in and week out

Sharing the opening poem, “Pseudo Myth” from MORE FLOWERS, out with @triohousepress.org on February 1st, 2026! 🌺 #smallpoemsunday @tomsnarsky.bsky.social
Pseudo Myth

Again, I've confused the horseman for the horse, the artillery of a muscle for a minor hero's sling. What we do in the name of obedience, not thinking wonder has
anything to gain over wit. The wheel, at times, will envy the hands that clutch it. The horse, the inoperable reigns. Trust me. I, who have neither head nor heart, whose name is not mine but Girl. What's torn through the center is as good a guide
as any.

IF

Suppose we are a fragment?

A perfect night of immediacy
in vital places.

Up here I am the disguised flower
you are where it came from.

To allow the hidden.
So slowly. My body.

And wouldn’t you

begin
to make friends with it?

I can wait.

It seems like “release the list” has become a fantasy for people who feel helpless for different reasons. Even if it were right in front of everyone, it wouldn’t enlighten us about what we already know is horrendous. Furthermore, who’s supposed to enforce the imagined consequences of being on it?

What if we're all lovers. What if we're all little books. Little consequences. Dawn Lundy Martin
Opening, red fabric, legs wanting to be that. There is want and then there are stones. I was a stone once myself. A smooth blind projection. I create you in the image of my desire. Which makes you nothing. I forget my own desire, which has a blame factor. A record of convolution. Remember, L----, I become consumed in waiting and then there's nothing else. All time is nothing.
The days just pass and I'm in anguish. Anguish is a red hurt, basalt. The time of expanded presence. What if we're all lovers. What if we're all little books. Little consequences.

From South Arts: that they terminated ArtsHERE, one of the most substantial nonmatching grants I've ever seen. Millions of dollars stripped from orgs who were already depending on it. Call your reps & tell them to restore the (broad bipartisan!) commitment to funding the NEA in next year’s budget.
Last Friday, many though not all active and pending direct grants from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) were terminated. One of the projects that was terminated effective May 31, was the NEA’s ArtsHERE initiative, delivered in cooperation with South Arts and through significant partnership with the US Regional Arts Organizations. This comes alongside the president’s proposal to eliminate the NEA entirely in the FY26 federal budget. Together, these actions will have devastating impacts on communities throughout the country.

We at South Arts, along with the national collective of US Regional Arts Organizations, strongly urge Congress to restore the grant funding in support of the arts, culture, and creativity that was passed during the last budgetary approval process, in addition to maintaining its broad bipartisan commitment to funding the NEA in next year’s budget.Guidelines of the ArtsHERE grants, which offered $65k - 130k in nonmatched funds
