Americans are fed up with the political establishment and an economy rigged against the working class. Zohran Mamdani understands this well. Democratic leadership should be supporting him.

It’s wild, absolutely wild, how for EVERY. SINGLE. CITY. Trump wants to militarize I can post data showing how crime is plummeting in all of them without any federal invasion… … and the press KEEPS stenographing the naked bad-faith claims about “fighting crime!” in the headlines. Infuriating.

Dear @washingtonpost.com: these two paragraphs are absolute malpractice. Utterly disgraceful. You use total counts, not rates … for the THIRD BIGGEST CITY IN THE US. Of COURSE it has a high total. And rates “have come down” … with a link, but no number. Down FIFTY PERCENT IN FOUR YEARS.
“You look at Chicago, how bad it is. You look at Los Angeles, how bad it is,” Trump said. “We have other cities that are very bad. New York has a problem. And then you have, of course, Baltimore and Oakland. We don’t even mention that anymore. They’re so, so far gone. We’re not going to let it happen.”
Chicago, a city of about 2.7 million people, has had the most homicides in the country in each of the past 13 years, with 573 in 2024. Like D.C. and many other major cities, it had a spike in homicides and other violent crime during the covid pandemic, though rates have come down since.

Think Tanks as a rule seem to be, in the immortal words of the late 20th century philosopher and car mechanic, Tom Magliozzi, “unencumbered by the thought process.” It’s beautiful to see such a thorough debunking of this nonsense through actual evidence!

The other thing about it is that the entire world has been captured by a discursive framing, where EVERYTHING is about how you talk about issues and NOTHING is about what you do. It's normal for consultants, it doesn't have to be normal for you! We aren't all executing a PR strategy we're people.

the reason this discourse will never end is because it is completely untethered from any kind of evidentiary standard. as long as there is a 19-year-old barista somewhere saying “cultural appropriation,” guys like nichols will complain that “democrats” use alienating language.

There is a LOT of filming going on and reporting out where feds and ICE are in DC. I know everyone means to be helpful when sharing that information, so I encourage everyone to get up to speed on the SALUTE method, which allows us to share info that is precise and doesn’t sow more fear.
S.A.L.U.T.E DOCUMENTATION
S size: How many agents/ officers/vehicles?
A Activity: What are the agents doing? Knocking on doors? Detaining someone? Attempting to enter private property?
L Location: Give an exact address, intersection and/or landmark.
U- Units: What letters, details, or patches are visible on the uniforms/jackets/vests/vehicles? Plainclothes? Masked?
Pretending to be police? Refused to identify themselves?
T -Time: What is the date and time? This info should be shared quickly.
E-Equipment: What did agents have with them? Any weapons, flexicuffs, dogs, door breakers, LAD sound cannon, vans, SUVs, etc. Document vehicle details especially plates!

For a template go to salute.kyr.digital/en OR scan the QR code.
The generated message is what you can use when communicating with the hotlines!
