The marketing of kids' drinks was huge back then, and naturally we wanted anything on tv. But also children are thirsty as hell by nature. Any entrepreneur could dig up a nickel to operate a Kool Aid stand, sold at two or three cents per cup and lavishly flavored with sugar and kids' dirty fingers.

My friend Anni was so crazy. We used to have a lot of fun together. Like we'd sit in a restaurant and smear lipstick on our teeth, then strike glamorous poses and grin seductively at men who walked past. 😆 The guys who laughed were potential friends. The men who appeared frightened, well, alas. 🙃😅🤷‍♂️
